Considered Multiple Products
Microsoft Project
Chose Microsoft Project
Smaller projects are better suited for Microsoft Project because it doesn't require the time-intensive setup that Primavera P6 requires. Larger projects need the integration with our other project management tools so Microsoft Project doesn't work as well in that regard. Procore
Chose Microsoft Project
Zoho Projects is indeed cheap, but its a cloud base management; you can't do anything with slow internet. Zoho Projects also has login issues, but Microsoft Projects don't have any problems like that.
Microsoft Project also has a tremendous and dedicated support team and has a …
Chose Microsoft Project
In terms of how our company uses Microsoft Projects, which is mostly for scheduling and resource tracking, we have not used many other comparable programs. Previously we used Excel, which in itself is much easier, but does not have the reports, and complexity that Projects does …
Chose Microsoft Project
Procore allows Microsoft Project schedules to be uploaded into it. It is not an easy feature to use. The uploading is a piece of cake, but changing anything after that is challenging and never seems to track correctly for me. Maybe I need more practice but it is not a feature I …
Chose Microsoft Project
These other products are much simplified and easier to use due to not having all of the advanced features that Microsoft Project has built-in. However, they have all the necessary functionality to meet the needs if you're not trying to use all of the extra advanced features.
Chose Microsoft Project
Microsoft Project was selected because it integrates well with other Microsoft products and has better tracking and visualization tools that can be used with different projects.
Chose Microsoft Project
It’s the easiest one that I have found to just start with
Chose Microsoft Project
We chose Microsoft Projects as we have an ongoing relationship with Microsoft and we use their other tools. Most people in our office are familiar with Microsoft Projects and our customers are use Microsoft Projects too. It integrates well with other tools we use in our office. …
Chose Microsoft Project
P6 is the biggest competition and, as previously noted, is the gold standard in scheduling in the construction world. We select them in some cases, and Project in other cases, depending on how much experience in scheduling the end user has under their belt.
Chose Microsoft Project
We selected Microsoft Project because of its better use of as a stand-alone tool, plus being a more widely used tool in our business environment. Most of our clients and contractors are familiarized with Microsoft Project so it's easier to share information with them. Plus is a …
Chose Microsoft Project
P6 has many powerful features that are often not being used by staff that are not professional schedulers and is very expensive. Project allows for a lot of the same powerful features but simple enough for someone who does not produce and manage schedules all day.
Chose Microsoft Project
In all cases where I didn't use Project, i used an application given by Excel freely as a template, when you open Excel 2013 or higher. It is basically a Gantt chart, with several capabilities built in. All what is necessary for you to do in order to quickly get a basic Gantt …
Chose Microsoft Project
I like Microsoft Project for scheduling and project analysis. Access has worked better as a storage software for information, not necessarily for schedule or project tracking.
Chose Microsoft Project
I had previously used MS Excel to create schedules while in the Army, but Project is unsurprisingly a far more powerful scheduling tool. There are more powerful programs out there, but MS Project is a good balance of power and features for general use. It integrates well with …
Procore
Chose Procore
I listed three alternatives.
  1. Fieldwire
    1. I personally haven't used this project management software. I have seen my electricians use it. I found that it is pretty good for document/ plans management and mark-up. It didn't seem to have the versatile capabilities of Procore.
Chose Procore
Bluebeam Revu for project markup - not as many functionalities as Procore, Procore is much broader
Jobber - not as specifically tailored to my industry, Procore is a much better fit for construction management
Chose Procore
We selected Procore because it offered a complete project management and bidding software program. It didn't offer pieces but a complete picture of each project. The mobile and web option was a big reason for the choice.
Chose Procore
I have previously used these other software's at other companies, and Procore is ahead of the game when it comes to these tools. These tools are all useful when it comes to one area of expertise in construction, but Procore is good at covering all of these areas and being a one …
Chose Procore
Viewpoint was difficult to use and learn. Procore I picked up within a 2 hour sit down with one of the other project managers. Easy to work through issues and figure out how to do new things. Help section is much more helpful than any other program I have used.
Chose Procore
Procore is easier to roll out to new team members and it is easier to assign an access profile.
Chose Procore
Procore is a more cohesive system the allows use all of the versatility we need to manage our projects. Other options that we looked at didn't seem to have the same streamlined processes and require us to take a larger role in forcing end-users to comply with company policies …
Chose Procore
I have used PMWEB, PROLOG, and Oracle, but Procore is by far the most user-friendly and captures more features for a reasonable cost. All of the rest have the power to do more, but cost exponentially more and don't offer the user-friendly interface that Procore does.
Chose Procore
Oracle Primavera is superior in keeping items related. It is very good and helpful in retrieving the reason and history of any particular item or event in the project. Any item can be tied or linked to the others in a very simple way. Procore needs to improve on this.
Procore, …
Chose Procore
Procore's licensing model allows the customer to not have to maintain licenses or purchase additional licenses. If a client needs access, we can provide access quickly and at no additional cost.
Chose Procore
I have not personally reviewed anything similar products to Procore.
Chose Procore
This is the first construction project management software I have used since I'm an IT project manager.
Chose Procore
I found Prolog to be dated. Procore is constantly improving. Paskr had a shiny exterior and demo, but once we get into the nitty gritty of a project, we found it to be fairly lacking in it's usability.
Chose Procore
We have only used the above software for the zoomed in needs of scheduling, plan review, and estimating. We have not used any other project management software.
Chose Procore
Sage is great for accounting and financials, but falls short when it come real-time project controls and documentation.
Chose Procore
I'm not a fan, it's not as user-friendly.
Chose Procore
Procore has a simple user interface similar to PlanGrid but the capabilities of Procore are far more apparent for the price. PlanGrid was our 'go-to' for punchlists and ease-of-use in the field. Procore has tools that are much broader for our company. The submittal and RFI's …
Chose Procore
Much more user-friendly and intuitive to use. Allows for better and easier communications to architect, owner, and subcontractors.
Chose Procore
Procore is much better than the competitors software because it is tailored perfectly for construction management and can be accessed by everyone involved in the project real-time.
Chose Procore
We selected Procore due to the fact that contract manager was being pulled from the market and Procore was the 2nd largest alternative. It manages financials well, though the proprietary software we had been using in conjunction with contract manager to manage document control …
Chose Procore
Procore is the best project tracker I have used. Its main downfall though against other software is the financial side however it is improving.
Zoho Projects
Chose Zoho Projects
MSP - Windows based. Not collaborative. Complex UI. Cannot be shared with people outside the organization easily. Cannot set security levels for users to access projects based on the rights granted to them.
Trello and Asana - Expensive subscription plan. Limited …
Chose Zoho Projects

  • Clear design and a good mobile app

Microsoft Project Online is suited to Turnkey Projects where more Collaboration is required in Project Progress monitoring, risk assessment and conveying, issue recording and tracking. It is less appropriate when ERP Suites other than MS Dynamics are used, i.e when Enterprises need to integrate Finance / Accounting with It and having straight project management workflow

It works great for project management and putting all job-specific documents in one place. We are able to share drawings, submittals, and forms with our customers and subcontractors in a safe and reliable platform. However, getting reporting data is somewhat lacking, so if your business needs advanced options, you might try and find a better product.

My work involves projects of 5-15 people with numerous projects running simultaneously. Prior to Zoho, I did not have a central location from which to view all project statuses at once. Zoho looks to provide this and also looks like it will deliver. I am anxious to see how our organization's use of it develops. At this time, I feel I am likely to recommend Zoho Projects because my organization has made great software decisions in the past so I have a level of trust already that the research has been done that Zoho is the best solution for our line of work.

Microsoft
  • I love the Gantt Chart that Microsoft Project offers me, because it provides me with a view from various aspects, it provides me with exact details about the fulfillment of tasks over a period of time, it also allows me to make comparisons with the necessary data and the fulfilled data. by the employees, in order to know exactly if the project's expectations have been met.

  • We use it to manage our sales orders as there are lots of moving parts which are necessary to get client orders done properly.
  • I use it anytime I have a new idea I want to put into motion. As I can create a list for brainstorming, feedback, specific actions necessary in order to test and or implement the idea.
  • Unrelated to business, it's a great way to plan travel in order to make sure you don't forget those important things like passport, flight arrangement, client meeting confirmation, and meeting prep as far as what specific documents or things do you need to bring with you.
  • And since everyone is on the go and expected to keep up with work, the mobile/tablet app makes it a breeze to keep up, work on, and create new projects.

Cons
Microsoft
  • Seems overly complicated for users sometimes in using Project and its functionalities

  • Downloading drawing sets sometimes involves an extra step that holds up the process
  • The dashboard is simplistic to the point that I don't feel like I am getting enough information about a specific project from the get-go
  • Granting access to a project on Procore is not very straightforward as a consultant- restrictions sometimes cause hold-ups

  • There is no ability to add custom fields in the "Bugs" module - for example, if we want to add fields such as Version Number.
  • Reporting is not integrated - its a fairly expensive add-on.
  • There is no easy way to track actual and completed dates for tasks - so historical variance analysis is not easy.

Alternatives Considered
Microsoft
While many of the above tools are extremely well-versed, Microsoft Project's largest advantage comes from it being related to the largest business productivity company in the world. Project does have its sharing limitations - but regardless, offers one of the most robust tools in the market today. Microsoft Project is built with large-scale projects in mind but is more than up to the task for smaller projects as well. However, there are options available (especially cloud-based options) that may be more fitting for higher-level projects that do not require going into the weeds.

  • Project saved me, as the project manager, countless hours of digging through tickets and schedules to plan everything out. It also saved me time in adjusting the project triangle as needed, since it does so much automatically.
  • It is costly, and since it requires extensive training to master, it's not just the high licensing cost that you need to take into account.
  • The reporting features - even just printing out Gantt charts - makes it far easier to communicate with stakeholders. That means less time for PMs doing all of this manually, and it means less follow-up questions and delays moving forward.
