Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Articulate played an important part in getting our eLearning up to speed quickly. My team did not have a development background and teaching them how to use the system was very easy. When selecting a development tool, we needed a versatile program that could be put to use for a variety of task. Articulate was able to provide this.

Articulate is very powerful tool. But in my opinion its strength is in simplicity and speed. When you don't have time or money it allows you to create a good content. Professional developers also find a great friend in this tool, but it's not my area.

Storyline 2 is particularly useful if you are wanting to create screen captures and software simulations. But it also handles branching scenarios very easily and with Story View makes it simple to see which sections/decisions are connected. At the end of the day it is well suited to create any type of course you can think of.

There are usually 2 different types of elearning:

  1. Software simulations
  2. Learning content (interactive or non-interactive)
So the important question is:
Which kind of elearning content do I want to deliver?

Mainly if you want to create software simulations then you can think about other alternatives but If you want to create interactive elearnings with a lot of elaborate interactions on a slide IMHO there is no more intuitive software than Articulate Storyline.

Ask about who your target audience is and understanding how that audience learns. We have 2 departments that we train with Articulate, one benefits more from interactive training and one more from just reading the material. Articulate Studio is geared more toward the less interactive side, while Articulate Storyline is completely interactive. This would have been helpful information for me before purchasing.

For some types of rapid learning modules, Articulate Storyline might not be the perfect fit - especially on mobile devices. However, Articulate Storyline remains one of the best and most popular authoring tools on the market for now and could fit most online training needs.

The user really just needs to know in advance what they hope to accomplish with the eLearning software. Articulate, though, can do pretty much everything. I used to use Adobe Captivate, but it did not have the features that Storyline currently has, nor was it as easy to use as Storyline.

I would really push the user to try the free trial and get some hands on experience before making any decisions. I want them to understand for themselves how the software works and what it can do for them.

I think if you are looking for an eLearning course development tool, Articulate Storyline is your best bet. Not only can you create basic courses, but you can also record and edit simulations to go within those courses. Storyline has a lot to offer as a software, and with the proper development can go above and beyond simple eLearning.

Articulate Storyline is suitable for most scenarios, except for perhaps software simulation because other products are a bit more advanced in this area. Future users should download the software for the 30-day trial and experiment with one of the weekly challenges to get a more unbiased feel for the software.

Key questions I would ask when deciding whether to use Articluate Storyline are: Are you planning on doing remote learning or face to face learning? Are your learners computer literate? Do you have content that can be broken down into smaller sections as eLearning only holds a learners attention for a certain amount of time? Is time allowed off for training an issue within your organization?

I find it great for all sorts of training courses. I like to use it for quizzes but I also really enjoy using it for creating scenarios. The zoom option is really helpful for giving your work a glossy feel.

Articulate Storyline 2 is a well-rounded product that can be implemented in almost any business setting. Some features are stronger than others so a complete review of functionality is something I always recommend and trying it out for the free 30-day trial.

Articulate is best suited for developing elearning and on-demand presentations. It is versatile enough to where you can post it on a webpage or import into a learning management system. I believe it is less appropriate when developing communication or a single video. Also, it does not have prepackaged animations that could be used to develop scenarios.

It is well suited for just about any development of eLearning. It is not, however, a replacement for a full learning website, or eLearning that looks like a website. It is best suited for standalone modules that will be loaded to a learning or content management system. Storyline 2 also does not replace the need for adult learning theory. Clicking and interaction does not necessarily mean learner engagement. It is simply a tool to help you carry across adult learning theories.
