We use Oracle to host and manage our blog. We have various authors who submit content that we review and publish. Through Oracle, we are able to share longer, more in-depth stories about the company when our own site does not offer a blog capability. We have been using the platform for our blog for several years now.
  • It's easy for users to access and write, and there's a nice workflow to review any content before it gets published.
  • Permission levels are also nice so a random user cannot just post without a certain level of access.
  • If you are code savvy, it is nice to be able to access the code to make updates to the site. Not to worry, however, if you are not. There is a clear separation between the front end and the code, so those who aren't comfortable with the code don't have to worry about accidentally messing anything up.
  • At one point, we had two separate blogs, and they were great in helping us combine the two without losing any content or archived articles
  • Some of our authors have trouble figuring out how the workflow works. It takes a little bit of searching to find where to set a page for approval. They also have trouble locating where to schedule blogs to be published.
  • It's not the most user-friendly design. When you log in, it feels a bit dated and take a bit of time to get acclimated to where everything is located.
  • The organization of the backend code files seems very disorganized.
  • Finding any sort of tutorials, demos, site help is challenging.
  • Maybe the worst part is trying to contact customer support. There is a lengthy registration process for their separate support forum that requires approval. I've had a couple support instances there have been left unresolved and and closed without any offers why.
Oracle is great for a very basic blog. The look of ours was designed and built on the back end/code side, so I'm not sure if there are a lot of clean, modern templates like you see in a lot of blogs today to choose from or not. It has been great having a number of authors who can write content directly in the platform and then submit it to our content managers for scheduling and publishing. I think the biggest issue people may have with it is the look of the interface. It needs an update.

  • It has helped us share more fun, informative and interesting stories with our audience.
  • We have been able to link our stories to our social media to help share them and share more content that available and suggested on social media.
  • The interface isn't the most user-friendly and getting to customer support is a challenge. We've contemplated switching to a new service, but since we've been using it for so long, we worry switching to another platform may lose all of our current and archived content.
  • It's been a great place for our audience to get inspired and want to contribute to the blog as well and easily write an article within the platform that we can look over, edit and publish.

We use it for our company blog. It has hosted our content last year. We used to have two blogs and they were helpful in combining the two without losing any archive articles.

Pros: Workflows are a functionality in OCM making sure that the approval is given by the right person in the right job before it's on its way to the next step and in the end, publishing!


Cons: I don't feel like I'm noticing any updates that feel like Oracle is making progress. I'm not sure if it's the level of account we have/pay for. It seems like we installed/bought this one version years ago and have never updated. The interface feels dated, and I've never noticed any updates to change that feeling.

  • Great way to post about the company, and ensuring that the marketing team can track the effectiveness of strategies without involving the product teams.
  • Understand that the software isn't the biggest cost of a blogging program. It's the time and resources it takes to create the content. It's easy to set a schedule/ed call in their solution and assign topics to people (with deadlines).
  • To show management that we have hit out KPIs and thus need more budget for other blogs.
While OCM was a lot more money, they were able to prove to us that they are a much better solution to use and worth the extra cost. The reporting, capabilities along with the analytics that was easy to download was a big discussion factor for us.

Easy to use, and supporting several permutations, the CM suite is an excellent solution for a mid to large size business. It's meant to be used by a team, and the functionality can work across websites and landing pages. There's also the high benefit of translation management, providing support for localized products.

Compendium proved to us that it was a great platform supported by an awesome team of support staff, developers, and account managers. They took the time to listen to our needs and continue to provide great service.
Have better communication with my account manager and let her know my ideas that would have helped in making your content marketing more productive. We really did not have a good relationship, but she was nice and smart at least.

As part of our negations with the pricing, Oracle waved the premium support fees. We still have support, but we don't pay for it for the first year.
To be perfectly honest, every one of my concerns and problems has been handled by the support team in a very timely manner. If they could not fix my issue they assured me it be addressed in future updates.

The fact that spam bots have found one of our online submission forms and they post to it about 15 times a day. Really annoying, and, time-consuming, but their Support Team fixed it within 2 days.
  • I like the easy structure and straightforward layout.
  • The help feature has a great FAQ section when you run into an issue
  • The flexibility. I love that we're able to target specific calls to action based on the topic of a blog post.
  • That we cannot have different user permissions/user roles. However, that’s changing shortly (they’re doing an overhaul to add more functionality)
  • Sometimes adding an image can prove difficult.

It has been recently implemented within Wolters Kluwer to have an advantage by streamlining the process of our editors, who write articles, RSS feeds and newsletter content. This content via OCM can now be centralized, monitored and QA checked before it's on it's way to blogs/Eloqua. Via the many ways of sharing, this can now also be governed.
  • Workflows are a functionality in OCM making sure that the approval is given by the right person in the right job before it's on it's way to the next step and in the end, publishing!
  • Template functionality in OCM allows for easy copying and adjusting, allowing you to re-use best practices quickly!
  • I believe it would be a great asset if many more layout functionalities were made drag and drop, just like in the email editor of Eloqua, allowing the ease of use and diminishing the need of html/css/javascript knowledge!
In an organization where there's brand communication and this is a vital part, OCM can definitely help maintain/manage/analyze all the content that is being created by all of your editors. Next to this, the workflow system allows for a good ease of use, and maintains visibility of the approval flow.

Oracle CM is handling the planning of content drops and automation for our exhibitors. It's one of the few tools we use to keep our buyers abreast of new products each showroom has before any of the upcoming markets. It's currently being used by 2 teams within the business, where one team facilitates the strategy and the other team implements. Oracle CM addresses the communication gap between product trends and traffic that has long plagued DMC.
  • The devotion and communication of both the account managers and the support staff has been excellent.
  • Highly customizable.
  • The dev team is constantly expanding on the features.
  • Adding images have proved to be difficult at times.
Each use of Compendium has been appropriate as we are a business that services other business. With consumers looking to buy the next hot thing or stay on top of fashion trends and technology, Compendium has allowed the IT, Marketing, and the exhibitors to plan well balanced content through effective communication from concept to deployment.

  • Everyone had their own plan and executed them without taking into consideration the impact of another ongoing project. Compendium has created communication between teams that were not communicating before.
