What is Access PeopleHR?

Access PeopleHR is an HR software that automates basic HR processes for small and medium-sized businesses. Access PeopleHR offers a range of features for employee records, performance management, recruitment, and payroll, and boasts users among over 7,000 companies.

The system includes an employee-tracking database, that allows users to create new employee records, fill in key contact information, and store documents. Access PeopleHR includes unlimited document storage, so users can attach as much paperwork as necessary to each employee profile.

Within the applicant tracking module of Access PeopleHR, users can create new job offerings, as well as build out a custom career page that matches the branding of a company’s site. Each job posting can be completely customized. Once a candidate applies, they’re added to the recruitment pipeline, and recruiters can view all candidate information.

Employees can request 360-degree reviews for receiving feedback from peers within the performance module. Managers can set goals for employees, and track their progress in real time. The web-based solution can also be accessed from anywhere at anytime.

Employees can also update their personal information and request time off using its self-service portal.

In my experience, Tech support is slow and they ask the same questions over and over (I'm sure to drag it out because they aren't looking at your case.
In my experience, Holiday randomly goes wrong and unless you do checks you won't notice until an upset employee raises it ( this has happened multiple times)

Access PeopleHR is used for all our staff's time. i.e. Sick leave, Holidays, Lieu and overtime. we also use it for recruitment, skills, Expenses and personal details. this system replaced our outdated spreadsheet method and is very handy for alerting the correct managers / people via emails for approvals etc.. this alleviates the need for daily human checking.

  • The UI could do with being more Up to date, i find it easy to use but is quite cartoon like.
  • More Details for skills is required, I have some certifications but the system does not recognise the Brand
  • Emails that are sent out could use an overhaul as they don't stand out as much as i think they should
Access PeopleHR is easy to use for things like requesting Leave.. the system is easy to guide through and emails are sent to the correct managers (if setup correctly) I do find that the backend is quite outdated and clunky though, this could do with modernising a little as it reminds me of windows 95

  • PeopleHR before access, a few things - Access now - unfortunately can't list much
  • Communication - In my opinion, extremely poor customer service (including basic interpersonal skills etc), shocking response times, often just ignored.
  • Following on from above, very hard to get in touch with anyone by phone. Extremely long call answering times - have given up waiting many times.
  • Cost - used to be very competitively priced before Access took over, but prices keep going up. Supposedly because of new functionality but our business never benefited from any new features yet we were still charged more.
  • Lots of system issues - often we couldn't even log into the system because of system problems. Seemed like the system went down very frequently.
  • No dedicated account manager. It would be great to have a dedicated account manager who you could contact for any issues, instead trying to contact any central team within Access is a nightmare. See below.
  • I feel their Access Support Portal/ticket system is terrible. Rather than being able to talk through an issue with someone who have to raise a ticket through the portal but often i had reps trying to close down tickets before even resolving the issue.
In short, from my experience truly terrible customer service. Would not recommend to anyone.

  • As a result of the poor customer service approach we received because of an issue, we were forced to source an alternative HR system and incredibly short notice resulting in a huge amount of additional hours needing to be worked 'out of hours' to ensure something was in place in time. Very adverse impact on the business and the continuity for our employees.
Prior to initially taking out our PeopleHR contract i reviewed many HR systems and PeopleHR seemed the best option as it seemed to have the most functionality for the best price. However that was many years ago now and since being a customer of PeopleHR and now going with Timetastic, i wouldn't recommend PeopleHR. The costs have increased substantially but there hasn't been any significant improvements in the software that we've seen/utilised. There's also a lot of system issues that seem to occur frequently. Not to mention the service has taken a total nosedive since PeopleHR were taken over by Access. Whilst Timetastic is a much more basic system and really just a holiday planner, the cost is cheaper than anything I've seen on the market. For the more HRIS functionality, we've opted to utilise our O365 and create a Sharepoint HR Management Site which is much more cost effecitve us and we can avoid having to deal with Access which is a huge plus.

People HR seems to be a quite affordable and useful software for our organization. It is mainly used for Application tracking systems, auditing, tracking, basic reporting, salary info, etc. The best thing which I like about People HR are Performance Management and Applications Tracking Systems. People HR is very easy to use, such a big help.

It's simple to use even for non-technical employees, making it very simple to install even for a workforce that hasn't grown up in the digital age, and for that People HR is the best option to fit in. I haven't got in any situation yet where I see People HR as less appropriate except Applications Tracking Systems as I have never worked on that module much.

People HR is easy to use, you don't actually need any training for that. The programme and functionality are excellent, and the support provided by Advisors when you click the help button to speak with them is always excellent. They are quick to respond to any questions and provide excellent customer service.

We started to on-board PeopleHR in 2016 with a lot of help, guidance, and support from PeopleHR. They were fantastic at answering questions and supporting us during the on-boarding process. In Dec 2016, we started to roll out PeopleHR to the rest of the business with training. It helped us to automate holiday requests and our company personal development review process. It has also helped us to track all recruitment with their recruitment module too. We are able to instantly report on company data instead of having to solely rely on excel spreadsheets.
  • PeopleHR takes on board business case ideas to improve their software. The more customers that request the business case to be brought forward, the higher on the priority list it becomes.
  • The holiday / annual leave planner is great - it can log all instances of leave and has a built-in return to work form.
  • The applicant tracking system for recruitment is very easy to use and can integrate with your own company website.
  • The applicant tracking system still has room for improvement with integrating with external job boards like Indeed / Jobsite.co.uk / Directgov etc.
  • There is an option for creating forms with signatures but it doesn't allow for comments/feedback/changes/versions.
PeopleHR is well suited for businesses bringing on board their first piece of HR Software. It's well suited for businesses looking to automate some HR Administration processes, giving visual overviews and producing reports. It's well suited to businesses who have an in-house recruitment with the applicant tracking system.

It's probably less suited to businesses that need to report on recruiting, as reporting is not possible in the applicant tracking system.

  • PeopleHR has reduced the amount of holiday queries coming through to the HR Team. This has saved us around 2 hours per week.
  • PeopleHR has increased visibility to line managers of their team and indirect reports for holiday / time management.
  • The ATS has enabled us to automate responses/templates to all candidates applying for roles, send updates, reject, invite to interview etc. in a much quicker time frame. This has reduced hours of work writing emails per week.
  • PeopleHR has given more responsibility and ownership to our managers to do their roles.
We observed 3 other products and PeopleHR had more to the product for a much lower cost when we compared.
