Planergy is a helpful tool for managing the purchase order process.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Planergy as our purchase order system, to generate and track purchase orders to a wide variety of vendors. We use this sytem as a search tool, also, to search for past purchases and vendors and make our purchasing function faster and easier. I use it almost on a daily basis.

Pros

  • The search function allows me to review old purchases very easily.
  • The vendor database that we created is very helpful for easily contacting vendors.
  • The "replicate" function allows me to quickly and easily duplicate an old purchase with minimal time and effort. We often buy the same products from the same vendor throughout the year.
  • Creating unique purchase order numbers for each of our orders allows us to track them easily.
  • We also like the quick and easy approval process for getting purchase orders approved.

Cons

  • I don't like the fact that I cannot click on the "back" arrow in my browser and go back to my original search. I must click the "back" button inside Planergy to get back to my original search.
  • I don't like the fact that it is not easy to revise a purchase order after it is approved.
  • I don't like the fact that I cannot change or delete an order that is no longer relevant.

  • Creating unique purchase order numbers for vendor orders.
  • Creating a valuable vendor database of vendors we buy from.
  • Allowing us to search the purchasing database to see what and where we have bought from in the past.
