The Polycom Trio is widely utilized by organizations across departments to facilitate conference meetings with clients and suppliers. With its integration of SIP trunks and digital telephony systems, it aids in transitioning organizations into more advanced communication technologies. The Trio's video conferencing capabilities, especially when coupled with the Skype integration, enable face-to-face communication with users spread across different countries, enhancing collaboration and reducing the need for travel. The product serves as the main microphone and speakerphone in conference rooms, delivering crystal clear audio for effective communication. Its seamless integration with Skype for Business enhances the overall experience and allows for smooth interaction with clients in other offices. Additionally, the Trio can be configured as a USB enabled device for computer use in a workstation-driven environment, further expanding its versatility. It has proven to be an invaluable tool for conference calls, addressing both voice and video conferencing needs while providing excellent sound quality in various room sizes. The Trio's ease of use and intuitive interface make it a popular choice among users at all levels within the organization.
Sensitive microphones: Users have consistently praised the Polycom Trio for its extremely sensitive microphones, with many reviewers noting that it allows soft-spoken individuals to be heard clearly. This feature has been mentioned by a significant number of users and contributes to improved communication in meetings.
Easy operation: The ease of operation is another widely appreciated aspect of the Polycom Trio. Multiple users have mentioned that joining a meeting requires just one click, while bringing in outside attendees only takes a few clicks. This integration provides a smooth user experience, allowing for easy collaboration and communication within existing platforms.

(1-25 of 26)Polycom Trio Review
- Polycom Trio gives us the ability to hold large group meetings in a virtual or in-person setting as some employees are in the corporate office, some are remote, and some are at various other office sites.
Dependable High Quality Conference Room Phone
- Quicker for our staff to join meetings
- Dependable, in that we know the phone will work for meetings without any prep work
- Coming form previous Polycom unit we didn't need to re-train users so that's a saving right there
- Support required is minimal so this frees up IT resources
Conference Room Phone with Great Audio Quality!
- Reduced cost for travels to different office, this is a positive.
- Administration on the trio should be made simpler, adds burden on training admins.
- Options to better integrate to Cisco UC, such as presence, shared lines.
Polycom Trio - Good but not the best
- Due to previously mentioned negatives about the product, including the price, we decided to cut the Polycom Trio from our Zoom Room lineup.
Trio Tips
- Use of the conference phones has remained constant. There has been no increase or decrease in use.
- The costs involved were considerable as they were tied with a room system. We are still awaiting full adoption by all.
- The costs involved seem a little excessive but we are more focused on the background systems and these endpoints are helping to ease the cost there.
Clarifying the Trio Device Experience
- The Return on Investment for use by associates has been low as they are adequately trained in their duties and technically adept. The system itself is intuitive and the use time of the device is almost exactly the same as the devices they replaced.
- The negative impact on ROI included the nearly constant interaction with the vendor as the devices were configured and put into operation.
- A negative impact on ROI included having to include network administrators into the mix rather than having the system administered by the telephony administrators. Though there may be some positive ROI in the future there has been an overall increase in involvement by local professionals to get them to work and maintain them in environments which have not been specifically designed for them. For example in our system in Mexico, special accounts had to be made up to bridge the TRIO's to the telephony system in a way that makes them appear to be the devices they were intended to replace.
Trio 8800 and Skype for Business
- Since we were really looking for a device that could provide Skype for Business Online services (web conferencing/video/audio/local screen presenting) at a reasonable price point, I cannot say that this device meets all of our needs. The device has to be at least 99.99% reliable. This is about 60% there. Audio is definitely in the 99% range. Local screen presenting is probably around 75%. Video and web conferencing is about 70%. To comfortably deploy a device in the wild you really need to have 99% reliability. It has to work when its needed. I can understand an occasional hiccup, but one every other day is a too many. If you are replacing older SoundStations with an IP or Skype based audio solution, then this is it.
Trio has worked wonderfully for our organization
- Increase in Conference Call productivity. Using the Skype For Business integration, we can share content on screen and hold video conferences where anyone can join with a skype for business account.
- Users have adopted the system easily.
- Reduced travel expenses for meetings.
Good, Flashy phone
- It hasn't really had an impact on our business. So far it is used exclusively for phone calls, it was just an upgrade.
- The Trios really have been tanks and continue to meet our audio conferencing needs. Having our entire phone system running through Skype for Business, including our conference rooms simplifies things for both IT and our end users.
Great Medium-Small Conferencing Device
- Negative ROI - took me 2 weeks to get it working, even after calling Polycom for support
- Frustrates my directors
- Great as a USB speakerphone though
Polycom Trio 8800 review
- It has reduced cost on organization's need to travel to other offices.
- There has been some administrative burden as some features do not integrate with Cisco endpoints i.e. shared lines.
- Polycom Trio 8800 paired with a visual + is an easy way for our organization to deploy collaboration rooms for our employees and clients.
Trio Review
- We have had better conference call productivity with the Trio.
Best in Class
- Having the Polycom Trio has eliminated complaints about poor audio quality during meetings.
Great product
- It has greatly simplified joining a Skype for Business meeting.
Polycom Trio - Great sound!
- We've had fewer complaints from users about sound quality, inability to hear speakerphone participants
- We replaced a previous Polycom product with the Trio, so the failure rate is about the same
Small Company Very Happy with Polycom Trio
- Increase use of our conference room
- Increase use of our conference lines
- Large improvement from our last conference room phone
Polycom Trio is great - in the right setting
- We see a movement to using Skype for Business for meetings, and this is a pretty inexpensive purchase when a meeting at your desk just won't work. Instead of $5k or more for a traditional Polycom, the Trio with the webcam was more than 50% cheaper
- Since many found it relatively easy and intuitive, it has reduced calls to our Helpdesk.
Polycom Trio works!
- In conjunction with strategic objectives to reduce travel, the use of the tool has increased conference call usage.
Polycom Trio - a game changer
- Ease of use; the user experience is definitely a plus!
- Better collaboration with fellow remote coworkers and clients
- Less Help Desk involvement
Polycom Trio: A good Skype for Business solution for smaller rooms
- Positive: It reduces IT troubleshooting burden. These are solid units and haven't had issues inherent to the hardware. (No need to reboot constantly, losing connection, etc.)
- Negative: It increases the need for user training. Not being able to connect to an HDMI cable and instead connect through Skype to present, adds an extra unnecessary step.
- Positive: It has increased conference call productivity by enabling one-touch Skype meetings.
Trio Review
- We definitely have been able to increase adoption to Skype for Business and using Skype native audio
- Users have come to not utilize the camera or Visual+ sharing due to lag and poor quality camera.
Great hardware, not so great support.
- It has helped automate tedious meeting setup for regular users.
The Polycom RP Trio is a Solid Solution
- The Trio has increased conference call productivity with the ability to easily join a S4B meeting.
- Remote configuration helps to reduce IT burden.
