We use Qlik Sense across most departments in our organization. It brings in data from a variety of sources and displays it in a very user-friendly and intuitive way. It helps us with many day to day tasks, as well as most of the projects we implement, including budgeting and sell out tracking.
  • ETL
  • Data Visualization
  • Filtering
  • Intuitive Use
  • Ability to input data
  • More integration with R and Python
  • More in house visualizations
Qlik Sense is extremely well suited for analyzing large amounts of data, particularly where sales are concerned. It gives very quickly an overview of your dataset, and where the key parts are.

The main area that Qlik Sense struggles with is where we need users to add context to the data we are seeing. Unfortunately, Qlik Sense doesn't have any way to input data or add public comments at the time of writing.

Qlik Sense is used across the organization and addresses a wide range of business problems. Its main advantage is that it can process a large amount of data efficiently, which we were not able to do with our other systems. Also, we were able to combine data sources from different areas and create a simple dashboard for the support of our management.
  • Fast processing of large amounts of data
  • User friendly analysis of data - quick data manipulation
  • Short development times
  • More data visualization options in the standard product, or better quality of the extensions. For example, a bullet chart, a scatter chart that doesn't automatically compress data, more options to customize a line chart...
  • Version control for the development process
  • The ability to organize the work folder
  • An option to inspect and analyze tables during script debugging
  • A standard option to generate basic reports (without Nprinting, which I tried and did not like)
  • email alerts for failed tasks, or even email alerts when certain KPI's move to a certain value
  • An option to load data in real time
  • An easy option to share a bookmark with other users
Qlik Sense is well suited for analyzing data in a deep way, asking new questions as you go along. It is best when you are open-minded about learning something new that you did not know before, because you can easily look at the data from many different angles and drill down into details. Also, you can easily combine different data sources and get stuff done quickly.

It is less well suited for ad hoc analysis, or data that is not well-structured (the kind of things you would use Excel for).

Currently, Qlik Sense is being used across the Finance function but the intention is for Sales/Marketing and the Supply Chain function also to have access as we roll out projects relating to those areas. Many of the business problems we are trying to resolve are around having one source of data and a one-stop-shop to access that data.
  • Visualizations that interact with the user.
  • Associations help users understand the data and can provide answers.
  • Handling of large volumes of data with ease.
  • Restrict who can see what especially with functional data.
  • From a development point, be able to replicate variables more easily and be able to use the find/replace function.
  • More flexibility around waterfall charts and making them easier to build.
  • Ability to do cyclical groups (as in QlikView) so save canvass space.
Qlik Sense is ideal where is there is a large volume of data (millions of rows), where there are many data sources and information needs to be restricted as to who and what they can see. In terms of development time required, Qlik Sense may not be suited where data rows are only in the thousands and where information can only add value if presented as tables (I.E., where visuals are not required).

I am in the Internal Audit dept. Qlik sense is being used by our dept and we manage our own licenses and implementation. I have heard some other depts are using it as well. In Internal Audit, we create dashboards, looking at the trends of the bank's core business activities and our dept audit status.
  • Easy to use
  • Powerful
  • Calculation on the fly
  • Admin interface
Best scenario: When there is lots of data and the data quality is good. Scenarios where it is less appropriate: When the data consists of a lot of pictures, documents, PDFs, video and audio files.

While many teams within our organization utilize Qlik Sense for business analytics and visualizations, our learning and development function that supports our customer service teams has recently begun using Qlik Sense to determine and prioritize needs within our teams that can and should be addressed with performance interventions.
  • Data Modeling. I really appreciate how Qlik Sense is a truly approachable professional tool. Loading and connecting data tables into an app can be as simple or complex as your project requires. This allows both novice and expert users to effectively develop data visualizations.
  • Wide Userbase. The fact that Qlik Sense has so many users around the globe means that there are a plethora of training materials available online from many sources. Qlik's training materials are helpful, but I also found valuable resources at Udemy.com and even on YouTube.
  • Consistent Visualizations. The process for creating nearly every type of visualization is very similar, meaning that it does not take long for a new user to learn the basic processes of the program and to become an efficient report/app developer.
  • Simplicity. Being a PowerBI user as well, I think Microsoft does a better job concerning the simplicity of layout and cloud integration of their product.
  • Modern Design. I also think PowerBI does a better job of making aesthetically attractive visualizations right out of the box. Some of Qlik Sense's visualizations are very practical, but lack of design without a lot of finicky adjustments.
I think Qlik Sense is well suited to fill the need of an organization or individual in need of creating interactive visualizations from large data sets. Ultimately, when it comes to data analytics, it is vital to use a tool that integrates well in the environment of other software within the user's context, making Qlik Sense a tough sell over PowerBI in many Microsoft-dominated business contexts.

Qlik Sense is currently being used in all our subsidiaries around the Asia Pacific region. In addition, within the organization itself, the BI tool is being used by a few departments for internal analysis and planning. Departments such as After-sales Service Management and Business planning are among the more frequent users of the BI tool.
  • reports can be easily shared across platforms
  • able to handle report customization
  • device compatibility
  • make it similar to MS Excel formulas
  • improve on new user learning curve (to learn Qlik Sense at the early stage is a steep learning curve)
  • simplify the scripting process
The drag-and-drop charts/tables in Qlik Sense speed up report generation and allow a user to experiment with the way to make the data presentation more effective.

Although other Solvay sites use it for other purposes, my group is using Qlik Sense as an easy means to sort through data stored in multiple Excel spreadsheets as a kind of relational database. We needed something flexible that could adapt to frequent changes in the spreadsheets.
  • Easy to link different data sources.
  • Easy to associate the various data sources with key fields
  • Qlik Sense does not always update the data sources. I frequently have to start from scratch and re-load the files, re-associate them, and re-create the sheets.
  • Qlik Sense has not been very useful. It would be nice to have a way to guide it and give it some parameters.
Qlik Sense is okay for how we are using it but not ideal. We really only need a way to associate a number of Excel spreadsheets and sort or query the data so that we end up with a table of data pertaining to the subset of data that we are interested in. We use other software packages to statistically analyze that data. I suspect that there may be a cheaper and easier way to do this.

It is being used to consolidate data from different businesses and departments across the organisation. It is also being used at a local level to analyse production data and performance.
  • Reducing manual transactions for end users.
  • It allows end-users to quickly drill down into data to spend more time addressing problems rather than trying to find where they are.
  • Allows the consolidating of data from multiple sources.
  • Not everything is intuitive, requires experience and training to get the best out of Qlik and create good data models and dashboards.
  • The dashboards themselves are not the most aesthetically pleasing compared to other software packages that are available.
  • There are limited options to customise the look and feel of dashboards.
Qlik is great for consolidating data from different sources, e.g. where businesses are using several different systems such as MES, ERP and even manually created spreadsheets.

It is excellent for eliminating manual transactions in situations where end users are regularly analyzing data from the same sources but need up to date information.

It is not a plug and play solution and does need some experience or training to be able to develop good data models and user-friendly dashboards. End users themselves will also need basic familiarisation in using dashboards.

It is being rolled out across the organization, primarily by the Workload and Reporting teams, and addresses the issues of data accessibility. Qlik Sense allows us to all view the same information consistently with great visual markers to ensure we're all on the same page on business performance. It has replaced the numerous smaller reports that were distributed previously.
  • Data visualisation
  • Easy to read layout
  • Ease of use
  • Interactivity: some icons needing a double click vs single.
For our situation (call center & back end office) where we require a multitude of data represented, it is a great tool for tracking performance.

Qlik Sense across the whole organization is our primary visualization tool for all reporting.
  • Data visualization
  • Empowers self service
  • Company-wide single reporting tool
  • More ability to bespoke visualizations
  • Miss some QlikView functionality
Qlik Sense works in small and large implementations for visualization of most data; the most time-consuming part is getting the data in a good state, then the visualizations come easily.

Involved in a few departments only, used for POC, in comparison with Looker, Power BI, etc. It has been used to solve various analytical problems and it helps to convert data into insights to make informed decisions by the business stakeholders.
  • Easy to use, over the cloud
  • No maintenance needed
  • User and developer-friendly
  • Easy to learn
  • Performance
  • Look and feel
It can be used by any machine as earlier Qlik Sense was working only on Windows. It's well suited for any end-users or analysts since they don't need to worry about the infrastructure and just focus on their work.

My company is using Qlik Sense across the entire organization from internal usages such as Finance, HR, and line management to external users such as demonstration to clients. It is one of the most useful tools to manage and provide data visualization. Even though there are many alter options, Qlik is easy to use.
  • Interactive visualization.
  • Data integration.
  • It's not as fully developed as Qlikview.
  • It does not perform advanced analytics.
Qlik Sense is a suitable tool for business analysts to perform relatively easy data analytics, data visuals, and find key insight. It is easy to learn and use. However, for data scientists, there are many other open-source tools available, and they provide more advanced data analytics options and interactive data visuals.

It is used enterprise-wide for all business functions. It is managed as a central deployment by IT along with centralized and decentralized developers. We address use cases from operational to clinical to financial, and everywhere in between. We integrate 20+ data sources including user-generated and maintained data from source applications and data warehouses/data stores.
  • Scalability.
  • Flexibility.
  • Breadth of features.
  • Difficult development collaboration.
  • Lack of built in advanced analytics.
  • Lack of integrated SDLC management (version control and the like).
It has the flexibility to meet all different use cases, but requires in depth knowledge of features to develop for all use cases. Capabilities can be extended as needed to meet use cases (custom visuals, tools, metadata), but creates custom maintenance cycles and tools/utilities that may break release to release. Qlik Sense gives a consistent release cadence to quickly fix bugs and integrate new functionality.

Qlik is being used in various claims departments and allows us to gain insights into expenditure categories for clients.
  • Utilizing the associative model and green and grey color coding in the filters, I am able to obtain a cross-section of categories of medical benefits and services.
  • Eg. Expenditure on a ven diagram like cross over of two different benefit types.
  • This type of analysis would normally have required more complex queries of the data but with Qlik I can do this in a matter of seconds.
  • I'm able to code directly in the load script and create complex calculations on the fly instead of having to go back to a database and export calculated variables.
  • Visualizations are highly customizable with calculations in the measures or dimensions.
  • I would like to see more easy to use trend line functions. Polynomial, linear, moving average, etc.
  • Easier access to modifying the heading fonts, sizes, and colors.
I really like using it to provide quick insights and answers to questions from around the business that would normally have taken a long time and a lot of requirements gathering before it is built. The UI design options for dashboarding still needs more work although this has come a long way in more recent releases.

We're using this internally in a department for the below two reasons:
  1. Integrate the tool with Qlik Sense Documents and with Power BI to make the reports generated out of those two platforms to be available on the cloud for the teams for anywhere easy access.
  2. Onboarded Qlik Sense to generate reports from our sales team and compare how we are faring w.r.t our quarterly and monthly goals.
  • One of the strengths of Qlik Sense is that it is a very user-friendly tool - it has a responsive interface that makes it so easy to use on multiple (portable) devices.
  • It is very easy to train the users on Qlik Sense and also very easy to install.
  • Sometimes it is a little challenging to use with all types of modern browsers when using overcloud.
  • Data management becomes complex when working with primary keys and updating them as there is so tight coupling between master data components.
  1. Making documents available over the cloud from various other software.
  2. Making Analytics reports out of several different types of data and that too hundreds of rows of data through excel sheets.
  3. The output reports are beneficial after grinding of large amounts of data for the sales and team.
  4. Its responsive design is another beautiful feature that is helpful to use it on a variety of other devices.

Qlik Sense is used internally to provide different departments with views of system data that they need for their role. It addresses issues with systems where reporting is limited or the need to combine different sources of data into one view. We use it primarily to analyse manufacturing and sales data, to analyse trends.
  • Combine multiple sources of data
  • Deal with large datasets in a timely manner
  • Ease of use, it takes a while to get used to Qlik Sense.
  • Being able to print to PDF natively without a third-party app.
Qlik Sense is perfect for combining multiple data sources into one view. It allows a crazy amount of connectors, ODBC, REST, Salesforce, Excel, SAP... so suits most business scenarios. Once you get over the initial hump of learning the system you can create some beautifully crafted views for your users.
If your users aren't very IT savvy you might find issues with them using it. Therefore I'd recommend that you provide a lot of training and make sure adoption is monitored. We've found some users not logging in or forgetting how to use it.

Primarily as a UI for Space Management data. We provide category management services to CPG and retailer customers who analyze shelf space. Cubic, Capacity, Linear, Square, Facings, Points of Distribution, $ Share, Unit Share, Fair Share Index. We provide scorecards that compare previous to current or planned and calculate TTLs, DIFF, and % Change. We leverage common visualizations, KPI, charts, etc.
  • Processing speed.
  • Ease of use.
  • Seamless Integration SQL.
  • Limited appearance options.
  • Poor ability to filters and other objects on the page.
  • No bound box features for tables or other charts.
  • Limited QMC functionality (e.g. Export).
  • Poor viewing capability when viewing many applications for a stream.
  • Poor support for branch plugins.
Well suited for the following:
  • Viewing and slicing SQL data sources
  • Simple UI vs. Development in .NET or SAS reporting
  • Business users with limited BI training
  • Sharing/Collaboration

Qlik Sense is used internally for financial reports. The main audience for these reports are management and personnel with a financial target.
Qlik is also used for a client application providing management's views about application usage. The target audience here are (external) HR Managers who need insight about the usage of the application by their personnel.
  • Apply filters on the data-set by clicking on any object in the visualization.
  • Out of the box a great responsive experience on all devices.
  • Ability to visualize big data-sets.
  • No 3d visualizations are available. The default reports styles are boring and not slick.
  • It is advertised as intuitive, but lower educated staff cannot cope with it without instruction.
  • A limited number of visualizations is supported as standard. There are many addons available from the community, but not enough out of box.
Good scenarios
Qlik is well suited for creating visual financial reports for internal use. The interactive elements and the ability to filter on any item is great. These reports are a huge step forward. Being an Enterprise product Qlik is capable of combining the data of the financial system, CRM system and a lot of other data sources into powerful reports.

Less appropriate
Qlik is less suitable for integration in a website. Even the demo applications of integrations into a website are slow and the interactive elements cannot be seamlessly integrated into a modern house style.

Qlik Sense is being used in the number departments, however, it is a strategic BI/Analytical tool in our organization. It supports our reporting and analytical needs, and allows for faster data delivery and the more efficient use of data.
  • Great visualizations
  • Drilling down and finding correlations
  • Questions that were not asked
  • Working with large data sets might be slow.
  • QVD "chaining" is not straightforward.
  • Better support on the on-demand apps generation.
Qlik Sense is well suited for trend analysis, heat maps, and high-level comparisons. It does not work well with direct database queries and on-demand app generations.

Qlik Sense is primarily used in our Sales and Marketing department through visualizations to gain insight into the distribution of our product throughout the country. It is slowly being expanded to other functional areas with current development taking place of our Finance and Production units for the purpose of gauging efficiency within their operations.
  • QS has extensive options to connect to various data sources
  • We use the scheduler to keep our data updated, we set it up once and it's done
  • Of course, the visualizations and relationships between Sheets tell more of a story than rows and columns of data
  • It's such a mission getting to access Qlik Sense outside of the office network without having to rely on VPNs.
  • Support from distributors/ resellers, particularly in Zambia, is non-existent.
  • It sometimes gives random errors where the browser cannot connect to the App. This is more frequent in Microsoft Edge.
Qlik Sense is great for analyzing sales movements, both in quantity and money value. We have had issues with getting the Map functionality to display the kind of information we're trying to get out of it. Stacked bar graphs also don't seem to present very well in Qlik Sense for quantifying the stacked sections.

Qlik Sense Enterprise is implemented across our department for visualising data generated by almost all business applications and users. Usual analytic tasks like presentation, comparison and outlier spotting are carried out with Qlik. For complicated analysis, assistance of data science language is introduced. In such cases, Qlik will be mainly used as a presentation of architectural models.
  • Power of self service
  • Compatibility of almost all common data sources
  • Straightforward management of viewing and editing authorities
  • Data science engine compatibility (R or Python), with official supports
Well suited - when a data table is in place. Just drag into Qlik, quick charts will be available in a second.
Space to improve - in particular, datetime handling could be a pain. Thought there are good formulas like IntervalMatch, net working days etc., it will be a bit tricky handling some particular datetime exceptions.
