We use CCH Tagetik for:
  1. Management reporting on monthly base.
  2. Consolidation on quarterly base.
  3. Entering budget.
Our company is structured in such a way that only a limited number of persons have access to CCH Tagetik, mainly for consulting. This implies that we don't use the process flows.
  • Integration with Excel.
  • Good customer service desk.
  • Very well documented.
  • Easy to use as an administration with little IT skills.
  • The user-friendliness of the HTML5 interface (might be a general thing with HTML5).
  • More information in the tool itself.
  • Better help functionality.
For what we use it for: management reporting (easy to manage the dimensions and structure in the dimensions), consolidation, budget. The automatic reallocation module didn't work well for us (we didn't try much either), but the data entry workaround fits perfectly the job.

Very versatile and a lot of extra modules available (e.g. IFRS16 reporting, disclosure mgmt, tax calculation, ...).

It's clear that the program was designed by the financial users and not IT guys.

  • One version on the truth: mgmt and console in 1 package.
  • ease of use and easy to hand over to new people
  • SAP BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation)
CCH Tagetik is way more user friendly and the online help is understandable by non-IT people.
7
it is used mainly in finance: from local controllers/finance admins over production controlling and group controlling. Beside that it it used for the complete consolidation and consulted by CFO
1
Group controller is internally main support person. That is the person who set up the complete Tagetik suite in a coaching model together with the external consultants. Thus the person who was involved from the beginning: designing structure, maintaining data model, setting up reports and input schedules, ...
  • monthly reporting
  • consolidation
  • budget
  • kpi reporting
  • seamless integration with Excel (major asset!!!)
  • ease of use for non IT person
  • you feel that this product is build by people with the same profile as the users, and not by some IT people who believe they know what the user needs
  • very decent support and documentation where a lot of information can be found
  • other way of budgetting
  • moving towards forecasting and flexible budgetting
It works exactly how we want it to work. It has the benefit of the integration with Excel.

We use it already almost 5 years and never had any serious issue with the product.

user-friendliness
Yes
SAP BPC

outdated and not supported anymore.

we wanted to replace it as the used functionality wasn't supported anymore. Too much need of IT skills to maintain, not flexible, bad (or none) customer support . not suitable for company where no dedicated IT person is in house

ease of setting up and maintaining by finance person
no, completely satisfied by our choices
we did it in a coaching model. This allowed us to have 2 key advantages: we got to know the system very well and managed to save on the implementation cost. This worked well, was maybe a bit slower since we had to do this in our spare time. Nevertheless I strongly recommand
  • Implemented in-house
  • Third-party professional services
element 61
  • some uploads of figures from our previous system were a bit time consuming
  • doing it ourselves slowed a bit the process
  • In-Person Training
the training was not bad, but we got more training from working with the consultants. This because it is based on our system
you have a lot of flexibility in the system and can easily also modify it. Some features are standard in the system
do it in coaching model
we created input schedules to make journal bookings in stead of using the features in the model. The excel way worked better for us and this was possible
I got very quick respons. After very little mail iterations, they decided to have online meeting to look together with me to the issue. They tried to solve it during the meeting. I had the impression that the customer care person really knew the system and was able to ask help from other colleagues when needed
I don't think we did. We have our local implementation partner that is our first line support. Which we don't need that often. Only in case we encounter a completly new request
No
no support requested
You don't need that much training in the software to be able to use it. Much is Excel based and thus understandable for an average Finance/Controlling person. The structure of the database and the logics are rather easy to understand. Also updating and editing of the structure is easy
  • updating dimensions
  • making reports
  • entering data to the system
  • managing the ETL
  • consolidation logics
very userfriendly and scalable. new features are available but you don't need to buy them
we have our consultant of the external party, but Wolters Kluwer CCH® Tagetik is also very accessible.
yes, it can always be quicker of course
they looked at our questions very closely
didn't need them that much
