TrustRadius Spotfire Meets Our Needs, Across the OrganizationSpotfire is being used by several departments across the organization. Spotfire provides us with the ability to create visualizations and dashboards from the data that we have collected. In addition, it allows us to build and deploy complex predictive models. The business problems that it solves are: 1) what are the characteristics of our device performance and can we see/understand aberrations in that activity, and; 2) what do our financials look like and how are we as an organization performing, what are the issues we face, and, can we project/forecast upcoming performance and issues.,Easy to get data into Spotfire, and to combine data from many sources. Easy to create and edit visualizations to meet the needs of the issue and/or end user. Dashboards can be built that deliver insight along with flexibility to allow end users some capabilities to explore the visualizations or customize the inquiry. Can provide or deploy advanced analytical models.,There is a need for additional graph types. The visualization set that comes with TIBCO Spotfire is becoming rather limited. Working with R is rather difficult. There is no ability for text display visualization; a word cloud or similar would be useful.,7,,IBM SPSS, Microsoft BI, RapidMiner Studio,9,9,25,3,General visualization of data Financial reporting and analysis Marketing visualization Analysis and visualization of trends within customer usage data,Understand and analyze failure data Trend analysis Analysis and projections related to financial forecasting,8,7,7,8,No,Price Product Features Product Usability Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor Analyst Reports Third-party Reviews,I think that if we had to do it again, I would try and involve an even broader set of people from across the organization. Additionally, I think that we would probably create some scenarios for product vendors to solve. In this evaluation we asked our vendors to take a set of our data and to create interesting dashboards with visualizations and at least one statistical model. I think that if we did it again we would probably look to more concrete scenarios.,Vendor implemented,Yes,Change management was a minor issue with the implementation,Ensuring the appropriate environment setup Configuring Spotfire to work with our data in our environment,9,9,No,Yes, our sales engineer is terrific. We have, on a couple of occasions, asked about the ability to do something in Spotfire, and, in a very short period of time, he has come back to us with a solution, or, just as importantly, come back to us with an explanation of why our request will not work or cannot be done. This has also saved us time "going down a black hole" in our analysis and/or visualization.Love the Spotfire. We are using the TIBCO Spotfire Platform in support of several of our government customers. One customer already had the software available and we showed them how they could use it effectively, while another customer is only using the software because we recommended it. We use it to help the customer see and explore their data in different ways. This software will help our customers make decisions that will affect their entire organizations.,It is fast to go from data to visualizations, whether you are using the Cloud Work Group environment or the full Spotfire Server implementation. The visualizations are easy to configure and generally can explain the same data in different ways, which is appealing. Being able to mashup different disparate data sources has been the saving grace for us. We don't need to house the same data in a single database. We can pull what we need from each to create a useful decision support visualization.,Scripting support is lacking in documentation and features. More charting types and integration with things like D3.js. More control over the underlying HTML, CSS and JavaScript would be fantastic. Customers want this integrated into their existing sites.,9,,Oracle Database,9,7,8Best tool on the market for data mining and data analysis!Currently I am in progress of implementing the TIBCO globally in OMV E&P due to the fact that the product brings flexibility in visualization and data mining. Data Integration

We bring in data from a wide range of data sources. This includes everything from JSON data through to Excel spreadsheets. Tibco has been able ingest our data without many problems. Additionally once data has been brought in, there is a need typically to manipulate that data and we have found Tibco easy to use in that sense. Finally, Tibco provides reasonably good performance when working with large amounts of data.

TIBCO Spotfire Review: "Spotfire is a very handy software program"

Data Integration

It is simple to upload data into Spotfire and select the way you want Spotfire to "view" the data. The program usually has the correct data type already selected. The only problem I have run into is when I have tried to compare two or more data sets within one visualization. The manipulation options become very limited then, which is understandable.

TIBCO Spotfire Review: "Spotfire - All in one tool for reporting, analytics and dashboards"

Data Integration

It is a simple process to source data from different sources on different platforms, e.g. SQL server, Oracle, HANA, etc. These data sets can be combined and aggregated into different views using the Spotfire product which can then be represented in different ways.

Data Integration

Spotfire has the ability to connect to all data sources I have tried to connect it to. I give it an 8/10 because once you connect to a data source, there does not appear to be a simple way to edit that data connection (meaning if you wrote SQL to remove a subset of data, I have not found the way to alter that SQL later to change the subset of data).

TIBCO Spotfire Review: "Spotfire keeps up the heat on readily accessible analytics for business users."

Data Integration

Spotfire has a growing portfolio of native support for varying data sources. On a business user level, importing data from different file type data sources is simple and straightforward. Building information links from SQL sources etc., requires a stronger bit of IT support to get full value, but once implemented, provides significant ease of use for the business. Real time data is not yet readily available and requires workarounds to implement.

TIBCO Spotfire: "Just another review"

Data Integration

Data connectivity from Spotfire is still very primitive when compared to other tools, and it doesn't seem to be well thought out. We use only Oracle DBMS so my experience is limited to Oracle.
1. It would have been nice to be able to pull data directly (native driver) from Oracle for faster performance instead of using the ODBC or JDBC driver.
2. Provide a 'built-in' data staging or caching area in Spotfire so that it doesn't hit the database every time we pull or update or refresh the data. I am not referring to report caching. If you cache the raw data, you can perform many operations without hitting the database.
3. It's a pain to 'update' the data model and change a validated report if we have to change the data source. For example, there's no easy way to look up where a column is used and if we update the column, what report or data elements are going to be affected.

TIBCO Spotfire Review: "Robust data engine & standardized visualizations"

Score 9 out of 10

Data Integration

Spotfire's data engine is its number one asset. It allows the ability to load and merge data from flat files, data bases, big data sources, and images. For example, a user can build a data table in Spotfire that comprises of data from an excel file, sas7bdat file, a query from a MS SQL data base, and a query from a Oracle data base.
Spotfire also has multiple methods to load data into an analysis. Data can be loaded into memory, fetched from a database on demand based on a user's actions, or push all of data integration into an external data source.
Using Spotfire's Information Designer allows non-technical users to build their own queries against data bases. It also allows for central management of queries. In other words, the data and logic being used across all analyses can be centrally managed, thereby standardizing your results.

TIBCO Spotfire Review: "What Most Don't Know About Spotfire"

Data Integration

If it has a JDBC or ODBC connector, Spotfire can connect to it. Spotfire eliminates the need for a separate data warehouse. Spotfire can easily merge data from disparate data sources, both structured and unstructured, to mash up and drill down to granular details.

Data Integration

Basic Text file, MS Excel and Relational Database connectivity is out of the box. You may need to get the MS SQL Server, Oracle database drivers, though. Apart from that, now you have dozens of pre-built specialized connectors to either other popular platforms like SSAS, MATLAB, TERADATA, etc. or other Industry specific popular tools which makes it extremely viable to use Spotfire for disparate systems and be able to analyze using just Spotfire platform.

TIBCO Spotfire Review: "Spotfire - the best kept secret in Business Intelligence & Analytics!"

Data Integration

We have used a myriad of data sources within our testing and found the in-memory engine to be extremely responsive with very high fidelity of flt data conversion where meta data or data type descriptors are missing. Load times are good with customisable fetch and batch settings and direct edit access to the connection string. Swapping of data sources that support Information links that are bound to products is simple, providing a lot of ease in dynamic environments where data sources change without having to rebuild everything that hangs off the associated data.
