Overall Satisfaction with Apricot by Social Solutions

Apricot is our primary constituent relationship management software for all direct service clients and services. It's used to document client and service information, manage case details and updates, and produce reports for internal and external use. We have over 30 users and incorporate Apricot with about a dozen direct service programs.
  • Enable customization of forms.
  • Create a usable and friendly interface for staff who feel less than confident navigating new systems and technologies.
  • Create good opportunities for data manager training and customer support.
  • We are not completely satisfied with Apricot's reporting structure. They have made some great strides in the three years that we have used Apricot, particularly with the launch of Apricot Results Reporting. However, I don't think they've quite struck the right balance of powerful analytics and accessible report-building usability.
  • Apricot is the first central database that my organization used, and it has transformed our ability to track and monitor program outcomes, thus transforming the relationship that our programs have with data.
  • It has greatly eased the process of reporting to funders and has enabled us to process data into more complex and powerful analytics, which has coincided with increases in grant revenue year over year.
  • Apricot has enabled more staff in direct service program positions to access and manage their data, thus defraying the effort placed on data management or Quality Assurance staff.
Since using Apricot, our organization has doubled in size and impact, expanding our program initiatives to meet the heightened community needs to be brought on by COVID-19. During this expansion, our Apricot data management systems enabled us to transition with ease to remote work and service delivery while allowing us to access the data and analytics needed to articulate heightened community needs and service demand/utilization to funders.
Apricot has allowed us to generate more powerful analytics to strengthen our arguments around increased community need and service utilization. Our ability to integrate data into powerful grant narratives has helped our organization stand out and secure new lines of funding. It has also helped us maintain and strengthen relationships with existing funders through our ability to report comprehensively on the impact of contributions on our programs and clients.
I came into my position once Apricot was already selected and am not privy to the details of this selection process.

I have often recommended Apricot to other small or mid-sized nonprofit organizations that are looking to implement a central database for the first time without the support of a robust data management team. For larger organizations with more staff infrastructure to manage more complex data management software, Apricot may not meet their needs.
