Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

We use Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT as our primary accounting system. We use all modules from AP to AR, Fixed Assets, GL ect. We like that it addresses our fund accounting complexity. We use it to track over 3,500 individual donor accounts at our foundation. Using projects for each different fund allows us to keep them all separate. Keeping them separate by project allows us to create custom reporting through a 3rd party to disseminate to campus users.

  • Record accuracy has gone up with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT. We are able to keep everything separate using both natural accounts and projects.
  • The AP module has increased our speed in issuing checks. We are able to easily review and see where approvals may be stuck in order to get checks out promptly.
  • The approval chains and easily viewed records of approvals have helped our auditors easily track processes for internal control walkthroughs.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT has robust approval rules that we've been able to implement. Being able to assign projects to only work with certain accounts allows us to ensure gift accounts are only used with the proper fund. The approval chains are easily tracked which has allowed our auditors to see clear trails of approvals for internal control purposes.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is far superior to CYMA. We used CYMA for over 20 years. It was tough to transition because Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT follows GAAP, while CYMA did not the way we had it set up. Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT has more robust fund tracking and allows us to create custom reports.

Fund accounting works well through Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT. We have 3 funds and are able to keep gift accounts in fund 2 separate by project. This allows us to track investments on the account level and report out to users easily.
