  • Simplified remote network access experience for remote users. No VPN authentication is needed.
  • Additional tools for IT staff to view connectivity from the remote users side.
  • Reduced time to resolve issues for IT staff and the users they support.
With a number of totally remote or fully remote employees, Cisco Meraki Z3 Teleworker allows for an always on type of experience that removes the need to use VPN software and associated delays with logging in and authenticating. Users have been happier with this experience and it's easier for IT staff to support as well.
Cisco is moving more products to their online dashboard, but this has, as of yet, not benefited the organization.
Your ability to scale is limited by your ability to pay for additional access points. Again the solution works best for remote or mostly remote users so that they don't have to deal with the everyday experience of the VPN. Allows you more visibility into remote users local networks which depending on security config, may be of value.
At the time of implementation, we were not aware of a comparable product from Cisco or comparative vendor. We had initially deployed the Z1 appliance and had so much success that the transition to the Cisco Meraki Z3 Teleworker was a quick and easy fit for us. The device is easy to deploy and just works.
The Cisco Meraki Z3 Teleworker appliance was ideal for scenarios where the remote worker spent the majority of their time remote. It alleviates the need for VPN software and gives the IT staff additional visibility into the connectivity of the user. We often encountered scenarios where the users broadband was having issues vs the Meraki network and the tools Meraki provides help to work through these scenarios. The case for the Meraki devices is not as strong for occasional users who cannot justify the cost of the appliance vs just logging in via VPN.
