Overall Satisfaction with Forcepoint Web Security
We use Forcepoint Web Security for web filtering only. We use it across our entire organization. This allows us to quickly set up standardized accesses to different levels of employees. With it's real-time monitoring features Forcepoint Web Security also allows us to easily identify sites that are being blocked and which ones are being allowed. Using that information, I can then evaluate user access and adjust it.
Pros
- The real-time monitoring tool allows for quick analysis of users traffic.
- Exceptions, makes allowing one-off accesses easy and allows for notes.
Cons
- Command-line functionality seems limited and not very user friendly.
- Online documentation to assist in solving errors quickly isn't easy to find what your looking for or isn't relevant to your problem.
- Allows IT to spend less time dealing with potentially harmful/unwanted sites. Positive.
- Setup does appear to be quite intensive, and it took our team a while to get it working smoothly. Negative
- Cisco Firepower NGFW (formerly Sourcefire)
Forcepoint's preassigned policies are a great way to get started. Sourcefire was much more transparent on what was happening to each packet and where it came from and to. But adding in rules and fine tuning the URL filtering was difficult. It took considerably more effort to track down which policy was actually blocking the content. Forcepoint's test filtering tool is very nice to use to determine which policy is blocking/not blocking and with the exceptions tool allows for a quick way to allow access to site/content.
