Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use GoToWebinar to conduct meetings across several locations. This software offers the convenience of only needing to coordinate time, not location to conduct training, peer consultations and 'in person' feel meetings. It can be easily used on a computer or smartphone, allowing flexibility and accessibility for our employees. There is a video only or audio only option as well.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Flexibility in hardware options for use.
Users don't need to create an account to log into a meeting.

Cons

Switching between platforms during a meeting, it will keep you logged in on both and can have 'echo' effects, if the audio is not muted on one of the devices.
It does not allow the person running the meeting to mute participants.

Usability

It is easy to learn to use the functionality of this program. There are easy pop-ups with icons to make needed adjustments during the meeting. GotoMeeting allows each user to control their own options. The download and setup on a mobile device is quick and easy, with little customization needed.

Alternatives Considered

Zoom

GoToWebinar has greater flexibility and ease of use. This program easily allows mobile use, which is an important aspect for our users. GotoWebinar is easy to log into and have multiple users sharing information through chat, video and audio options. It is able to handle numerous users, even though I don't recommend more than 6 users.

Likelihood to Recommend

GoToWebinar is well suited for company meetings, peer consultations, any meeting where one person talks at a time. It offers the ability to show videos during the meetings. It does not change the presenter, when different individuals speak. I would not recommend for a group of more than 5 attendees, since you need to 'scroll through' to see them and they all sit at the top of the screen. The chat bar can be both useful and distracting.
