I use IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition in our organization to develop and deploy electronic health records that can be accessed by doctors, nurses, lab techs and other healthcare professionals from multiple locations and devices. We have also used it to develop and deploy Clinical Decision Support Systems, which provide our healthcare professionals with real-time access to patient data, treatment options, lab results, and other information that supports clinical decision-making.

Pros and Cons

IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition can be used to develop and deploy systems that integrate with medical devices such as blood glucose meters that make that data available to healthcare professionals in good time.
It can also be used to automate systems that manage the workflow processes in the hospital, such as patient appointments.
It can be used in medical imaging systems by radiologists to view, analyze and share images.

It is complex to use and therefore requires a lot of technical expertise to set up, configure, and also to manage.
It has limited customization options due to its platform is already pre-built.
