Overall Satisfaction with Infor M3 (formerly Lawson Intentia)

Lawson is used across all of accounting and finance to aid in the closing and consolidation of our books each month. It is also used to book all entries and maintain the general ledger across all company entities. It addresses the problem of rolling forward certain balance sheet and income statement balances.
  • Web-based and rarely crashes.
  • Capable of producing a lot of different report styles.
  • Facilitates information sharing across different departments.
  • Not intuitive at all, difficult to learn.
  • System is archaic, seems to be largely unchanged since the early 2000's.
  • Reports are all in PDF form, which for financial reporting purposes is tedious to turn back into Excel sheets.
  • Certainly better than nothing but honestly was a time detractor.
  • A better, updated integrative system would have saved way more time in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Financial statements probably took one to two months longer because of how terrible Lawson is.
We only had Lawson initially because it was "what we had always used". Closer to when I left the company we began looking for alternatives and ultimately engaged Oracle to switch to the Oracle ERP Cloud. We needed something that had better API integration and ease of use, and Lawson is clearly none of those things based on our experience.
Lawson is utterly terrible for the money. It does not integrate well with other systems such as Treasury Management clients or tax software. It is extremely difficult to generate flexible reports and analysts are constantly spending time turning reports produced from pdfs into spreadsheets and vice versa. Overall, you're better off paying for an Oracle ERP or some other product.
