Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

We use it as our primary DNS service for our main web property. Although we do have a backup DNS outside of Dyn, we use this across our entire organization. Our previous DNS provider had failed one time too many, so we chose Dyn for it's fast and reliable DNS.
  • Quick updates to DNS. Propagates changes quickly.
  • Speed. Low latency and fast response times.
  • Interface is old, but does the job.
  • It has a steep learning curve, so you'll need to know a bit about DNS before you use this service.
  • There has been a negative ROI impact due to a loss of uptime, although it hasn't happened recently.
  • The low latency and fast propagation has had a positive ROI.
I don't often interact with support, but when I do they've always been knowledgeable and quick to respond. I couldn't find the status page of the service though. Those pages are often very helpful in a distressful situation like we were in a few years ago. I had to rely on Twitter to get any updates on the downtime.
The interface is old, slow and clunky. I often forget where to look for a setting, since I only log in once a month at most. With that said, it gets the job done. I find that I'm able to navigate to the right pages and make changes easily. I will say that the changes are often propagated quickly, which they have limited control over, but I still appreciate it when it happens so quickly.
Dyn is great for large sites looking to maintain a fairly static DNS configuration. I feel it does a great job at being fast and reliable. However, I wouldn't recommend it for smaller sites due to costs and possible pitfalls for less experienced site owners. If you don't have a basic understanding of DNS and all the different ways you can use and abuse it, I would proceed with caution. You can really mess up things.
