Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM)

IPAM allows us to keep track of all of our different servers and prevent IP collisions. It's like a database for all of your IP addresses and what they're being used for (websites, servers, etc.). IPAM is being used by the IT department in support of all local IPs for the entire organization.

  • Less time researching new IPs.
  • Less time troubleshooting IP conflicts.
It's a great product that does what it says on the box. It manages your IPs. It's absolutely fantastic at that and helps you to prevent conflicts and collisions which could lead to confusion, delays in development, and possible downtime of sites or devices. The UI is very easy to use and quickly shows you what is in use and what is available.

It is great in situations where you have many engineers working on servers and websites and needing to allocate new resources without stepping on each other's toes. If you're a single engineer shop this is probably overkill, although it is a ton better than making your own database or pen and paper.
