Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor

Used as a single console for VMware, storage, OS, Application and network monitoring.
  • Gives you one place to view many interconnected systems.
  • Support is lacking.
  • Software does not do a good job of monitoring itself and alerting you to problems.
  • Does not scale well in some cases, and costs can stack up as you have to build out more servers for the bloated software.
  • We have drastically reduced the number of critical issues.
SolarWinds is cheaper, but not as good as AppDynamics.
SolarWinds NPM is better for people who are not very network savvy and cannot develop their own solutions, or who need the reports and graphs. It is not super reliable and is bloated for what it does, but the reports and graphics are what make the product appealing to decision makers.
