Autodesk Tinkercad
Tinkercad is such a great program and I would recommend the program to anyone who wants an introduction to a simple CAD program. I have another colleague that is now using it in her classroom due to my recommendation. I have had students start with me in Tinkercad and eventually work their way up in skill and purchase other Autodesk products because of the enjoyment and opportunity that Tinkercad provided.

Vectorworks Landmark
Vectorworks is just as useful for perfectly measured, hard-line CAD drawing as it is for making beautiful presentation drawings and renderings. Tools in the application allow you to transition between working drawings and presentation drawings without modifying the underlying geometry. DWG exchange with other design team members works very well

Pros
Autodesk Tinkercad
- Tinkercad is very easy to use. Most of the 3d design software have steep learning curves.
- It is compatible with 3d printing. It is a proper tool which gives you solid 3d files needed for 3d printing.
- Tinkercad is fun to use. There are tones of 3d models created by the community. You could share your designs or even collaborate on designs.
- Must have tool for STEM teachers. It provides both electronics and coding features in a proper way.

Vectorworks Landmark
- I tell people that Vectorworks is CAD for people who know how to draw. You can control the appearance of all the objects on a layer, or you can tweak the way a single object looks. Most of the barriers to producing good-looking, legible drawings are removed.
- Vectorworks Landmark is made for landscape architects.Creating hardscape, planting, and irrigation plans is pretty straightforward.

Cons
Autodesk Tinkercad
- Workspace is a little bit trickier to use.
- Pan or zooming is sometimes complicated.
- Less import extensions support.

Vectorworks Landmark
- There's a bit of inconsistency in the operation of some tools that would appear to the user to be more similar.
- Importing complex Revit models takes a long time and, if the model has a lot of symbols in it, the import might not finish.

Alternatives Considered
Autodesk Tinkercad
The alternative programs are all Autodesk programs and they are great and have many more functions than Tinkercad but are much harder and time consuming to learn. Tinkercad requires no downloading and is the most basic CAD program I have found on the market. It is also free and a great learning tool for classrooms. I would Recommend stepping up to Fusion 360 when you have outgrown Tinkercad.

Vectorworks Landmark
I was an AutoCAD user before switching to Vectorworks when coming to work with my current firm. Vectorworks Landmark includes tools specifically designed for landscape architects - it's not an AutoCAD add-on. The initial investment for a new seat is much less than AutoCAD, and the Service Select program pushes down the annual upgrade cost even more

Return on Investment
Autodesk Tinkercad
- I should definitely say that Tinkercad has no negative impact on my business.
- It shortened my 3d design process for my many simple projects.
- Tinkercad is a free tool, no investment needed.
- I suggest it to my customers who don't know 3d design, but desperately needs a 3d file for their projects.

Vectorworks Landmark
- There is a learning curve for new employees, as regionally Vectorworks is not in wide use and generally not introduced in the academies
- However, because it is more intuitive as far as WYSIWYG drawing, most people pick up the basics pretty quickly.
- It's a really powerful suite of tools. Sometimes it's good to spend some time afforded by a larger project to explore ways to use the software more efficiently (e.g., improving worksheets, using different smart object tools, etc.)
