Likelihood to Recommend KeePassXC for us worked very well as a password manager and I highly recommend it for the same. But it also works as an MFA tool which is in our opinion the best feature. We used to use Google MFA before on Android the issue was that Google's Authenticator app didn't take backup at the time for recovery codes. So let's say one employee was upgrading their phone to a new one all the recovery codes would be lost. This issue was fixed by KeePassXC for us.
Read full review SplashID is really only well suited if you are looking to store passwords offline on your own server. There is no risk of them being leakedin a large scale breach of SplashID, but then it is only up to your security. Since it is not stored online, there is also not a way to restore the master password, so don't forget it!
Read full review Pros Password Manager MFA Works offline which is appreciated Read full review Generates new passwords Stores passwords offline Maintains usernames and notes for specific applications in one place Read full review Cons Tabbing through password creation is not intuitive The app is slow at unlocking to reveal passwords There are a limited number of fields you can use for each password making it difficult if you have lots of information to store about one app It is not easy to categorize passwords and stay orginized Read full review Usability SplashID is pretty usable, but there are definitely some key downfalls. Like I previously mentioned, it lacks easy organization. It is also not very user friendly to enter passwords. The password generation tool could use some additional options to remove certain special characters because on more than one occasion I have had to adjust a password to remove a prohibited special character.
Read full review Alternatives Considered I would say the MFA feature is better on KeePassXC compared to
Google Authenticator as I said
Google Authenticator didn't have option to backup our recovery codes at the time. So I would rate it higher. However with regarding to
Bitwarden I can safely say they are both neck and neck as they offer similar feature set. I did however liked
Bitwarden 's UI so if KeePassXC can improve on that it would be appreciated.
Read full review SplashID is not nearly as comprehensive as
LastPass .
LastPass is much easier to orginize and create folders for certain categories. It is also easier to launch logins stored in the vault. The only benefit SplashID provides is that you can store passwords offline. SplashID is better on the pocket book because it is a one time fee where
LastPass is subscription based.
