What is Seismic Learning?

Seismic Learning (formerly Lessonly, acquired by Seismic in August 2021) is training software with an ecosystem of partners, strategy and services that are aligned under the mantra of Do Better Work.

The vendor has worked with over 800 companies to help them train their teams. The vendor says they've learned that the highest performing organizations build their training on the same six pillars:

  • Assess (Gather Needs & Inputs) Listen to people, data, and the market; identify successes and challenges; and accurately assess your sales team's training needs.
  • Plan (Prioritize for Impact) Identify the most essential objectives and outcomes, and intentionally set milestones for creation and delivery.
  • Build (Create Quickly & Collaboratively) Work with teammates at the front lines of the business to develop and iterate on bite-sized training/content.
  • Learn (Meet Learners Where They Are) Push training content to teammates-- anywhere, anytime-- so they can quickly solve problems in their moment of need.
  • Practice (Rehearse, Refine, Repeat) Reinforce skills and information with realistic practice scenarios and receive feedback to fuel improvement.
  • Perform (Doing Better Work) Empower the organization to continuously improve, deliver and quantify results.

Seismic Learning ultimately aims to help organizations to achieve faster onboarding, higher NPS score, more closed deals and a superior customer experience.

We use it primarily in Sales but also occasionally in our Business Development team. It is used to onboard new sales reps, communicate product updates, and share relevant sales training information weekly. It has helped us reduce rep ramp time and helped reduce the amount of time managers were spending in redundant onboarding meetings.

We use Lessonly among a few departments to train on case studies, consumer journey, internal tools, and our partner program. It helps bridge the knowledge gap we may have in these areas. I've also deployed Lessonly with another organization where we used it both internally and with our partner program as well. At that organization, we used it to give product updates and to educate our partners on the sales, implementation, and support of the product.

We use Lessonly primarily for Sales Enablement, though other departments have begun using it since implementation. We use it for two primary purposes.
  • Weekly lessons: We send out a lesson each week, as a way to keep our team up to date on the most important topics. We focus on product updates, competitive updates, updates from the Marketing Team, new messaging, and pitch practices which the managers grade. Each section has questions to verify that the reps understand the content.
  • Onboarding: We have a library of lessons that new reps take during the ramping process.

As the Director of Sales Development here at Thomas, I was charged with the task of fully replacing our classroom style sales training with a completely virtual education platform. We started out by building lessons to replace the day to day classroom work. It then evolved into our new Product Delivery platform and now we use it to do all of our onboarding for internal and external people. We also use the data and analytics from Lessonly around lesson completion percentage and average lesson review scores to help us determine where to allocate resources.

Lessonly is currently being used by our Customer Experience Department. It is used for our New Hire Training for self-instructed learning, as well as throughout the entire office for process updates, procedures and much more. The business problem that it addresses is being able to send out information to a mass group of people in a timely manner and being able to test if they retained this information. It has allowed us to continue training our team members outside of our 3 week training program and build them as Fit Stylists and Team Members.

We are currently using Lessonly as our Primary LMS. We have only kicked it off on a trial basis for refresher customer service training but are in the trenches for content creation. Since content creation, at least initially, has primarily been me, it has been quite the process. We intend to use this as our onboarding LMS as well as a way to kick off policy changes and new material. We also intend to use it as a space to house our development/ career paths and a mentorship program. We intend to use it across the entire organization. As a training department of one with 9 physical locations across Indiana and Ohio, the main business problem it addresses is that it will hopefully eliminate travel time for me as well as provide a way to consistently train and track feedback.

It's being used by the entire organization for new hire on-boarding an ongoing training. It has helped us decrease our ramp-up time significantly by implementing hands-on training experiences.

I can't express enough how helpful the software is, how easy it is to build in, and how helpful everyone at the company has been.

We use Lessonly as the main LMS for our entire company. Employees use Lessonly in a number of different ways, from onboarding to self-directed learning. The content that's necessary for understanding Qualia is usually new to everyone who walks through the door, so we provide multiple mediums for consuming and understanding the content. Lessonly is a great option for us because it allows for easy creation of lessons and content. The user interface is intuitive and pleasing on the eye; we're very happy with what we've been able to do with Lessonly thus far and it's provided us with a platform that can scale with our company's growth.

We originally started using Lessonly to help onboard new sales reps, but this year we expanded our usage of it to help us continually train our reps. This year we have also started using Lessonly throughout the entire company. Everyone now uses it for onboarding when hired at QGenda.

MediCopy currently uses Lessonly across our entire organization. We use it as an information hub for employees to reference, as on on-boarding training tool, and for continuing education for all employees. We are currently in an explosive growth period as a company, and Lessonly has helped to formalize the on-boarding training process and make sure all employees have access to the most up-to-date information on policies and procedures. Lessonly has really helped to maintain our culture throughout this explosive growth period.

We brought on Lessonly almost 2 years ago because we did not have any training for our retail sales associates. We quickly saw value in the platform and since have built it out for our entire company and will continue to do so. It makes sure that everyone is on the same page and is following our processes accurately.

We use Lessonly to train our high volume sales teams. We use it when they join as a new hire and for continuous development as well. Right now, it's only for the 1 department and plan to span it over more in the future. Before Lessonly, our training documents were rarely updated and spread across multiple systems. This is a great way to have our training information in one user-friendly system.

We use Lessonly here at Klaviyo to support the e-Learning needs for our Sales organization. As we grow we plan on having the entire company use Lessonly as our e-Learning platform and we hope to do that sometime in 2020. As we scale we have added remote and international locations including LA and London. So we were up against a challenge of how to onboard and train these users. Lessonly has been the answer to that problem.

We had a huge onboarding issue and turned to Lessonly. We needed to streamline processes and best practices. I also needed to communicate with my growing team and know that they were digesting critical information. Lessonly helped disseminate information effectively and helped me better manage my team.

We use Lessonly for a few internal purposes. First, we use it to onboard new users and teach them about our policies. Secondly, we use it to make them subject matter experts in things like HIPAA and the health insurance industry. Third, we use it to enable our sales and client-facing organization on what we're building in the product and how to communicate it to our users.

We've rolled out Lessonly for the sales teams and will soon be rolling it out to the customer success and solutions engineers teams. Eventually, we will roll it out to the whole company. It currently helps us address sales enablement needs, and it will expand to help us address all of our training and development needs.

Lessonly is used across our call center campaigns and is currently being implemented across our entire company and our parent company, Randall Reilly, as well. The Lessonly Platform fixes the issue we had of disseminating training and announcements across our many locations and at-home employees while being trackable, timely, and highly effective.
