We use Stripe to accept debit/credit card payments on our e-commerce website. When we first started the company in 2016, I researched different payment solutions companies and Stripe was well-reviewed and had the lowest fees. There was some initial setup but since beginning to use it there has not been any intensive workload to maintain it. One thing we have been able to do that was useful is make use of smart payment options like Google Pay and Apple Pay. There were some initial hoops to jump through to set up but again, it works more or less autonomously after that.
  • Card payments.
  • Details on payment failures.
  • Integration and development.
  • Fees
  • Documentation
  • Prepackaged solutions.
  • Disputes
  • Security with notifications.
Stripe is a very modern payment solutions company and as such, implementing some of their utilities can be somewhat complicated. When you are looking to use them to accept payments on your Wordpress website like I was, it's very easy to set up and maintain. If you want to do anything else that is not in a content management system, you should have strong development and coding background. They have some additional offerings that extend functionality like tools to manage subscriptions but I have found that everything outside of the basic primary functions offered requires a higher degree of knowledge with coding and development and may not offer enough value to pursue the general public.

Stripe helps me to allow for online sales, online memberships, and invoices to customers for various products and services within my business. It allows for easy transactions and does stores cards for easy access to recurring invoices for returning customers. Before, I was using different software for invoicing and PayPal for online payments but this software out them into one.
  • Easy to use platform.
  • Stores cards to easily use again for return charges.
  • Notifies you of sales.
  • Allows for multiple payment types- invoices, recurring, online sales.
  • Delayed payouts.
  • Fees are a little higher than some other platforms.
  • If a recurring payment fails- they don’t notify me.
It is easy to use especially when starting up an online business. I can keep all of my products and different charges housed in there for ease of access. The fees are a bit higher and it does not notify you if recurring payments fail which can be a problem if not regularly logging into the software. The payouts are delayed so if you want money immediately into your account after a sale- this is not the platform for you.

We operate a Shopify eCommerce site and Stripe is one of our payment gateways for this. We required a relatively cost-effective and simple method for capturing payments and, as Stripe is recommended by several other Shopify users, we chose this. We have the other standard methods (Shopify payments and PayPal) and Stripe compliments these nicely and doesn't cause us any problems.
  • It's integration with Shopify makes payments very simple.
  • It works nicely in the background.
  • Payments are received swiftly and forwarded in a timely fashion.
  • More customisation for the cart without the need for developer work would be nice.
  • Lower fees.
If you want to keep your payments via Shopify simple, Stripe is very useful. I have no opinion of its use as a standalone product. The fees could be lower but, as Shopify will be taking its slice of the pie, it is to be expected.

Being able to standardize flows and integrate with other 'plug and play components, as well as automate several tasks that many startups are not able to perform or have the knowledge to do, is clearly a major advantage of such payment gateways.

We have been using Stripe as the payment method for several of our websites for 5 years now. Stripe is very easy to use, we can very easily embed it on our websites, and the support that we have received when needed has been really good. On top of that, we love it that their app works really well, and we are always informed of what is going on with the financial transactions on our websites with no delays. I recommend everyone to use Stripe.
  • Customer Support
  • Integration with websites
  • Keep all aps informed in different devices and platforms
  • The % that they keep per transaction could be lower
  • They make you wait for a month to get your money
It is a no-brainer to use Stripe. If you have an asset online, and you need to get payments from your audience, Stripe is extremely easy to use and configure and integrate into your website. It gives you the certainty that you will be easily getting the money from the people that make a purchasing decision of your products or your services. That security that you need to offer to your clients and their transactions when they trust you with their Credit Card information, is totally guaranteed by Stripe.

I have not run into any circumstances in which I could not use Stripe or I could not recommend it. It is an industry-standard really.

[Used as] our main payment processor.
  • Process payments
  • Locked out of account without any recourse, no followup communication, no sensitivity to the issues they are causing.
Great card processing service, generally stellar customer support. They have however fallen through the floor for us.

We have been locked out of our account for close to 72 hours for "security reasons" with no recourse, update, or context as to how this can be resolved. We reached out to Stripe about an unknown login 14 days ago, they promised they would investigate what occurred during that login. We followed up three days later and they again said they would resolve it and investigate. 11 days after that original outreach, they decided that they needed to lock us out of our account due to this security concern.

They refuse to speak to us over the phone and have around $20,000 in payments sitting in the locked account. They refuse to distribute them or give us any information. Their only response has been "we will contact you soon via email or phone". For 72 hours they have been continuing to draw funds from our customers and we have no idea who they are distributing those funds to, if customer cards are valid, if we need to fulfill those orders. We have no transparency and are beyond displeased with their lack of care on this matter. Find another processor if you want 100% uptime.

We initially signed up with Stripe to integrate with our Kajabi accounts. Stripe allows us to set up and maintain subscriptions with clients. It integrates well with multiple Kajabi accounts, bringing the money all into one place. It is very easy to set up and manage. They have competitive rates.
  • Stripe integrates well with our multiple Kajabi accounts. It allows you to set up separate "businesses" under one stripe account.
  • Stripe is really good at setting up and implementing monthly fees such as memberships.
  • Stripe makes it really easy to cancel recurring monthly charges as well as refunding clients.
  • Stripe is set up very much like accounting software. It works well for people that are financially minded - think spreadsheets - and not so user friendly in terms of interface. It could be a lot more modern and regular ol' Joe user if you get what I'm saying.
  • They could always lower their fees.
  • Stripe could also make it easier to get paid like PayPal does with PayPal.me
We use Stripe primarily with our online courses and membership sites through Kajabi. We think it's a great way to manage monthly subscriptions or recurring charges such as payment plans. We set everything up in Kajabi and then it just works in Stripe. When we shut down a membership program it was very easy to go into Stripe and cancel the recurring payments and also to refund people who had paid in advance.

We use Stripe as our primary payment processor for multiple products and services that we offer. We also offer our customers the ability to connect their Stripe accounts in order to process payments with our SaaS products. Stripe helps us provide payment solutions to our customers, and provides payment solutions for our business as well.
  • Better development resources and support than other payment processors.
  • No PCI compliance headaches, or frustrating technical workarounds required to process payments.
  • Very developer friendly, and a service that our development team enjoys working with, which is rare in the payment processing industry.
  • No automatic tax support. This is the biggest one for us. For customers that need to process complex tax situations like collection VAT or GST, Stripe allows you to create tax rates, but your software team must build out the software to support proper collection. I hope Stripe provides built-in support for taxes better in the future.
  • Processing rates are slightly higher than some more legacy payment gateway/merchant account solutions, but we believe this is worth it for the level of service Stripe provides.
  • As payment worldwide requirements are complex and differ from use case to use case, while the documentation and support is great, sometimes support is needed in order to understand the areas of the API that will be necessary for a specific use case.
If you are building a custom web, mobile, or e-commerce application, Stripe is the most flexible, easiest to implement, and feature-rich platform available today. Other payment processors have poor APIs, poor documentation, and poor support in comparison. We've worked with a number of more legacy payment gateway and merchant account setups in the past, and the hassles and hurdles slow down product development.

Stripe's support is extremely fast and knowledgeable. We can ask Stripe's live chat a complex software implementation question and have an answer from a real knowledgeable person in minutes. Getting a helpful answer at all from some other payment services we have worked with can be a challenge in comparison.

I use Storenvy to sell some of my products—Stripe was the way to receive payments. When a customer places an order with me, the money is transferred to stripe, which holds it for a few days before transferring it directly to my bank account. Many customers shop through credit cards online (not just Paypal), and stripe allows customers this flexibility.
  • Easy integration
  • Low fees
  • A lot of integrations
  • Not user friendly.
  • Doesn't have a clear breakdown of fees with volume discounts.
  • Wait period to deposit into bank.
Stripe is one of the easiest solutions to integrate payment processing into your store. However, if you are using Shopify to sell your products, I would use Shopify payments instead. As you scale, Shopify payments become a lot less expensive. If they are selling on places outside of Shopify, I would definitely recommend Stripe as a solution.

We use Stripe for our entire organization to collect donations as well as program fees.
  • Secure transactions
  • Easy to use reporting features
  • Consistent service
  • Market comparable fees
  • A way to mark when items are recorded externally
  • Sometimes difficult to find answers to questions
  • Recurring donations tricky to set up
Stripe has been consistently working for our organization for over 4 years and have been happy with the service. It does what it is supposed to do, collects funds for bills and for donations. Refunds are easy to handle,

Stripe is currently used to process all payments coming from my website. It integrates nicely with WordPress and is simple and easy to use.
  • Recurring payments for subscriptions.
  • WordPress integration.
  • Easy to use dashboard on Stripe website.
  • Functionality is pretty good, but wish I had an option to pass along the credit card fees to the customer automatically.
Stripe is a great payment processor and I've had no issues with it at all. It's good for small businesses and WordPress websites in particular, though in order to use things like recurring payments with subscriptions, you will have to purchase additional (costly) plugins for it to work with WooCommerce.

We use Stripe as our main payment processor for online payments and payment plans. In our business we sell several small products via websites and Stripe handles those transactions by being connected with our website shopping cart. We also have larger payment plans for professional services and we also use Stripe for handling those plans.
  • Connects with the most common online shopping carts to handle online payments
  • Easy to use and understand (both for purchasers and business admins)
  • The login area for Stripe shows a record of transactions and displays data in useful reports
  • Having a payment plan with a set number of payments with start and end dates
  • "Dunning" ie re-trying scheduled payments on an interval if they fail the first time
Stripe is an easy way to charge people's credit cards because it connects easily with online shopping carts and other services. It does a good job because it's simple and it has wide connectivity.

Through Wave Apps, I use Stripe as my primary billing method to collect my monthly web care payments from my clients. I also have it as my primary payment gateway in my client portal powered by Suite Dash. I tend to setup Stripe for my clients primary payment gateways as they are starting use it more over Paypal.
  • Fast and easy payments and checkouts
  • Customizable invoices and receipts
  • Trusted by many people and growing
  • I can't think of a single thing.
I can't think of any scenario where Stripe isn't appropriate except if a client or customer needs to use Stripe in a country where it's not supported. I BELIEVE it only works in America, but don't quote me on that! Any business that needs a trusted and reliable gateway should try Stripe for their business. The setup process is very easy, and your account activates fully once you verify some important info.

We use Stripe as a payment processor for our e-commerce business. Stripe came about as a super simple method of embedding code into existing e-commerce platforms and apps to allow for a way to accept payments without any trouble. The great thing about Stripe is that it was such a simple product, practically every online platform and every app began allowing for Stripe integration almost right away. Stripe allows us to accept credit card payments of every kind and, importantly, they do an excellent job of weeding out fraudulent charges.
  • Incredibly easy to integrate into whatever e-commerce platform you're using.
  • It's excellent at picking out and declining potentially fraudulent charges. Very trustworthy in that respect.
  • Analytics dashboard is very informative. Lots of data and information to look at.
  • While the dashboard provides tons of data, it can also be TOO much to look at once sometimes. Not terrible, but just very jumbled. Can be designed a little better.
  • By the same token, it can sometimes be hard to find information on their website. I find that I always have to use the search bar to find how to find things which then requires me to navigate two or three more clicks away.
  • I'm not sure if they offer a POS hardware option like Square, but if they don't that would definitely be something that would be beneficial.
The great thing about Stripe is that once it's embedded and integrated as the payment processor on your e-commerce platform of the channel, it just works. Since integrating it years ago we've never had an outage or a problem where the module could not accept payments. That kind of peace of mind is invaluable considering how many other things can go wrong. If it's offered as an option on the channel that you're using—use it! I can't really think of a scenario where using Stripe would have a downside, other than if the platform or channel you're using does not offer it as an integration option yet. And if that's the case, ask for it!

As a social impact digital agency, we used Stripe for client websites, mostly medical membership organizations and charities. Previously, members would pay by bank transfer and the membership secretary would manually approve their memberships on the website. This was inefficient for the organization and caused delays for members to access the medical journal from Wiley.
  • Great UI
  • Easy to send an invoice
  • Easy to refund transactions
  • Bit small to read, but I have a 4K screen and can adjust via browser Zoom.
Their fees are low and they are the leader in the space for accepting digital payments.

We use Stipe for our subscription activations. Stripe is used across the organization and is our main payment processor.
  • Stripe has a nice dashboard
  • Stripe has a basic easy to use navigation
  • Exporting information is easy
  • Stripe is limited when it comes to customization.
  • Stripe is tricky when it comes to integration.
Stripe get the payments done easily! When customers request payment history or the reissuing of a receipt it is simple to provide and access. Handling disputes is also made fairly simple in Stripe. The security associated with Stripe is top-notch. I'm never concerned about Stripe's authentication. Creating coupon offers is very simple and easy to implement!

  • Keeps customer records of payments.
  • Stripe needs some help on collecting proper tax on purchases.
  • Dispute timelines seem to be extremely long.

Today we are using Stripe for all of our product subscriptions. We are a SaaS company that has a monthly recurring subscription plan with additional add-on products. Stripe has become our source for billing all subscriptions. It is used by anyone in our organization who would need to be setting up subscriptions or products. This is typically finance, sales, onboarding, and support. It addresses the problem of an easy system that is organized when it comes to knowing who and what is being billed each month. Also, it's good at letting us know what is failing.
  • Recurring billing.
  • Subscription setup.
  • Discounts and trials.
  • It can used more detailed reports.
  • Discounts can not be itemized only subscription based.
  • Depending on users it can be a lot of info.
Stripe has just been a lifesaver when setting up billing and subscriptions, running payments, and has been a massive upgrade from the homegrown system we had built for billing prior to migration. The company itself has been great from the setup to support aspect so they've shown their worth at all stages. We've been really also really lucky to not have any issues. When things just work it's just great.

We offer a variety of online courses and products and we use Stripe to process credit card payments for those products. We have it integrating with our Drupal site, our WordPress site, and with Thinkific. It's our payment processor for B2C sales.
  • It processes payments in a secure fashion.
  • It's API integrates with all of our platforms quite well.
  • It has a nice user interface.
  • It handles subscriptions and payment plans well.
  • The reporting features could use some improvement. They don't always give clear details.
  • They recently changed their policy so if a customer asks for a refund, they only refund the amount that went to us - they no longer refund the fee, which means that we essentially lose that 3.5% fee for any refunds.
  • They also recently changed their policy so that the fee for international payments is higher than it was before, which is disappointing since we chose them based on the fact that their international fees were low.
  • It doesn't notify us or users if they are on a subscription and their payments fail due to cards expiring. It would be great if it notified us of that.
It works really well as a payment processor. However, we also have to use PayPal as well, because we found that a lot of people prefer to use PayPal because at the point of sale, they either don't feel like going and getting out their credit cards, OR they feel more secure just having their credit card information in one place (PayPal) instead of putting it in several places online. Because of this we were losing out on a lot of sales, so we now offer both credit card payments through Stripe, and Pay with PayPal options.

I use Stripe on my website. When people buy a product of my website, they can use PayPal or stripe with their credit card. It has helped create more sales in merch and helped keep me financially organized with online sales. I chose it as Square was not an option for my website sales.
  • Stripe was easy to set up and utilize on my website.
  • Stripe has helped dramatically increase my online sales. It’s a simple check out process that doesn’t discourage clients from all over the world.
  • I think it would be cool if Stripe, like Square, offered free sales credit rewards for their clients for referring people.
  • If Stripe offered Apple pay, cash app, and Venmo, that would be beneficial for more financial outlets as well!
I think that Stripe well suited for any business all or large, generating online business and wanting to increase sale outlets and profit. It’s great for websites, and suitable for invoicing as well. It’s maybe not appropriate for someone who is already using another platform to sell products. It might be keeping the business more organized to keep track of just one company to charge. Especially if that has multi employees doing transactions.

Stripe is used as our primary payment processor for credit cards and ACH/EFT payments or donations (as the back-end processor for both BidPal and Give Lively platforms we are using). It is used by our development, management, and finance departments - development to process gifts, management for reporting, and finance for reporting and reconciliation. It is a good back-end processor that offers very competitive rates to nonprofits with an easy system for getting those rates.
  • Ease of processing
  • Integration with Salesforce
  • User friendliness
  • Settings to collect data (we want to get addresses that are being collected by the cc payments anyway).
For nonprofits, their rates are unbeatable. Except for donation/payment platforms that claim to be free (they never are), Stripe's rates are the best (2.2% + $.30 for V/MC, 3.5% + $.30 for AmEx, cap of $5 fee for ACH/EFT/Bank Account). They also do offer a lot of reporting and integration options, which, if you can navigate them, are very helpful, particularly for finance and reporting. It's not as easy to set up what data is collected permanently from transactions, unfortunately, so don't count on Stripe for address collection, but for the rest, it is quite suitable for nonprofits.

I am the founder and director of a Christian ministry that provides life coaching services to young women. I use Stripe to process payments for all of our coaching clients. Using Stripe is an important tool used daily in my line of work. It connects to my scheduling software and makes payments a breeze for my clients.
  • Stripe does a great job of integrating with the scheduling software I use, Acuity Scheduling.
  • Stripe painlessly processes payments from my clients and gets funds directly to my bank account.
  • Stripe allows my clients flexibility in payment options.
  • Stripe does take a processing fee off the top, which I understand (but don't necessarily love).
  • If there was any way to get my payments faster, that would be amazing.
Stripe is great for small businesses and ministries like mine. For someone with all kinds of clients and accounts, offering all kinds of payment options to those who are submitting money to my business is always a plus. No matter what payment methods they use, it gets wired right to my business bank account with no problem at all.

As a start-up, we leverage Stripe to handle payments and invoicing. At the end of each month, we generate invoices and monitor incoming payments together with our accounting software. It is a crucial part of the business since it enables our revenue generation and is used across the whole company.
  • Ease of use.
  • User interface.
  • Pricing.
Stripe can to some good extent replace a solution that would otherwise be performed by an ERP system or its part. Since Stripe evolved as a start-up and gained its popularity in small firms, so startups will benefit from its usage. It would be less appropriate to use it in enterprises.
