Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting
MIP Fund Accounting is used by the Finance Department at NCAC. That includes the Finance Director, Senior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. We use it to track expenditures and deposits. We also use it to do monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries. Our agency budget is input into this system on an annual basis and I am able to produce financial statements for our board.
- I really like the financial statements MIP is able to produce. They are very easy to customize.
- MIP's "help" tab is very helpful. The system as a whole is very user-friendly.
- In 16 years, I've only had to call support one time for help. That alone is worth what we pay to have the system.
- I feel like I can run any kind of report imaginable to assist our department directors.
- It would be nice if you could choose to print an unposted entry, post a session, and print a posted entry all from the same screen.
- The efficiency of MIP has allowed us to save money by having less accounting staff personnel time.
- We are able to process a lot of information quickly due to the capabilities of the system.
- We are also not wasting time calling support for help because the system works so well.
This is one of the biggest attributes of MIP. Our organization has over 20 different funding sources. We also have 10 different departments. MIP gives us the ability to manage all of our funds by utilizing multiple funds, departments, and projects. When it comes time to run reports for a particular grant source, we can easily do that with our many reporting options. Because we are able to track all of these funds separately in the system, we only need one bank account.
We haven't considered alternate systems, but I have used QuickBooks while volunteering with the school PTA. There is nothing wrong with QuickBooks, but because of the large size of our organization, MIP makes us feel comfortable that it is exactly what we need in order to accomplish our daily and monthly tasks.
