Storyline is Best for Rapid Development
Overall Satisfaction with Articulate Storyline
For most of my instructional design needs, I use Storyline and the Articulate 360 suite. For our Training and Development team, Storyline is used as a rapid development tool to create online learning courses and training videos to be hosted on our LMS. It allows for quick turnaround time and is an easy design platform.
Pros
- I appreciate the screen record has the option to auto-populate the text for events on the screen.
- You don't have to be a graphic designer to understand how to use the software.
- Publishing options are great! You can export to Word and even MP4!
Cons
- I wish there was more of a library for people cut outs.
- The publishing time seems to take significantly longer than other software I've used.
- The file seems to get corrupted when saved on the cloud. I suggest saving local and backing up to the cloud.
- With the SCORM function I am able to track completion and time in the course when published in my LMS.
- The platform allows for mobile development and you can view your content in those scales.
- Easy to edit courses make it really great for updating content easily and not letting courses go stale.
I use all three for various reasons. I tend to use Storyline when I need an eLearning course where I want to convey long-term learning lessons and want to track progress. The ability to branch off of the main path for users to choose their journey is a great plus! I also really like the ability to publish the course to a Word document for my team to edit.
