Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

Mostly [use it] to view drawings and use it for minor changes and measurements. I liked the layout and ease of use when it was free and like it the same as a paid version. I only tweak existing drawings, do measurements, and review for others to do their thing on AutoCAD. I am not a power user and cannot use this to its fullest so the simplicity of things was what was good for me.
  • Ease of use
  • Doesn't require a lot of processing power for viewing and editing compared to other programs
  • It fulfills my needs and I'm not a power user so I don't have much to add.
  • I mean after it went from free to subscription-based it negatively affected us for $99 a year. Which is affordable for this type of software and better than a lot of the free options. It's hard to classify with an ROI as I don't use it for developmental purposes just review and small edits. I view it more as a required cost.
AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, and a bunch of free software.
The paid versions were super expensive and complicated with a high learning curve. The free software all had caveats and limited what you could do on the drawing. You could pay for it if needed but at this point, I've used DraftSight for a while and the costs weren't much different for my needs.
Budget CAD software compared to other suites, but still very featured comparatively.
