Overall Satisfaction with IBM FlashSystem

We are using IBM FlashSystem 5000 for mission-critical applications and databases. Usually, it provid[es] less then 1 ms latency even if there [are] cloning jobs working. Changing drives are pretty easy, you don't need any support you can do it yourself. Redundancy in every part is working very well.
  • Latency
  • IOPS
  • Deduplication
  • IBM [FlashSystem 5000] support is not okay
  • Lack of features
  • Oracle loads are being done 5 times faster
  • 20 TB database it takes only 8 TB on storage. Thanks to deduplication
  • Latency is almost always under 1ms
They are pretty even. I am very satisfied with Dell EMC Unity. Also, [I feel like] Dell has better support than IBM. It's all depends on how much discount you can get from IBM or Dell. Both are good to go storages.
IBM FlashSystem 5000 is really hardware performance storage. It might have not very good software or features, but for basic storage works, it is doing very well. Best suited with oracle database which is working on IBM Power 9 machine. Using [the] flash caching feature makes your database works 5 times faster.
