Overall Satisfaction with Kira Systems

Specific teams of lawyers use it for specific deals. My team uses it to train on specific provisions or run specific projects on behalf of clients or to support lawyers. It is used to help run due diligence projects more efficiently. It enables junior lawyers to manage the delegation and completion of a number of tasks within a due diligence/contract review. It allows lawyers to copy and paste provisions into Word quicker by automating parts of the process.
  • The dashboard screens allow lawyers to easily add and manage tagging of provisions in one place.
  • The UI allows lawyers to manage a large number of agreements at once and jump between the identified provisions and the underlying document.
  • The analysis charts allow for a more high-level overview of the grouping of documents allowing lawyers to drill down to specific provisions really quickly.
  • The already trained provisions need improving - we find a lot of them need retraining on our documents to be helpful. Too many false positives still.
  • Being able to ignore some provisions from the review - particularly where Kira is bad about identifying them.
  • Being able to share some of the outputs with clients (especially on the comparisons side). The heatmaps are great but being unable to share them make them less useful to internal teams.
  • The integration with HighQ needs some work to make it more useful for the kinds of client interactions needed.
  • The Pricing Model needs to be much more flexible and reflect the different ways that the tool is being used at organisations.
  • Client service, account management and communication need improvement.
  • We don't push Kira usage as much as other KM Practice tools as we don't have the budget for more users to be using it.
  • Managing document limits and the training requires an internal resource on my team to manage and takes up a significant amount of time compared to other tools.
  • We can't pass on the costs of Kira to the client as it is in addition to what the client is already paying for lawyer oversight of the review as well as looking over Kira's outputs.

Do you think Litera Kira delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Litera Kira's feature set?

Yes

Did Litera Kira live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Litera Kira go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Litera Kira again?

No

I recommend internally only. Externally the pricing model makes it less attractive to a lot of my colleagues. And there are alternatives that should be investigated (and comparing). The Canadian advantage was lost once the algorithms stopped being trained on Canadian agreements (UK and US are not the same).

Kira Systems Support

We don't get a lot of overall support for Kira.

Using Kira Systems

It's relatively easy to use and some lawyers find it intuitive. Others it takes some training and hand-holding before they figure it out.

Integrating Kira Systems

  • HighQ
Wow. Way more complicated than expected. And a lot of passing the buck between both companies about whose responsibility it is to fix. We still have errors that are outstanding.
