Overall Satisfaction with Sage 300 ERP
Sage 300 is used across the whole organization from accounting and admin staff to front line staff and executives. It allows the different departments to share information with each other easily. It allows access to information anywhere anytime including at job sites. It provides analytical and KPI information critical to monitoring our success. It addresses complex revenue recognition issues we experience in the software and SaaS software industry. It ensures we deliver the best possible service to our customers.
Pros
- Revenue Recognition - Allows us to recognize revenue on software sales when it is earned rather then when it is received.
- Dashboards - Allows us to see how the business is doing anytime we want in real time
- Remote Access - web based so we can access software from smart phones and laptops and are not in the office. Can get info when we need it.
- Reporting - Excellent reporting capabilities both financial, management and adhoc capabilities, allows reporting with other non Sage 300 databases as well
- CRM - allows sales and accounting and sales and production to communicate easier and we have better monitoring of sales, marketing and customer service activities
Cons
- Sage needs more of it functionality to be web based so all features can be accessed remotely
- Could use a cosmetic face lift some of the interface is a little old school
- Better customer Service
- Increased productivity
- Improved response times
- Better visibility
Sage deals with Canadian issues much better than the products above. It has better multicurrency capabilities. It address Canadian taxes especially GST input tax credits better. It has better options for Canadian payroll and Candian payments including EFT and Credit Card processing.
Sage 300 Feature Ratings
Using Sage 300 ERP
15 - Accounting, Sales, Collections, Project Management, Marketing, Administration, Operations
1 - Sage 300 End User Skills, Crystal Reports and Excel Skills, Some understanding of relational databases and MS-SQL. Technical skills if you do not have IT department to ensure backup procedures. Obviously they must also be versed in typical accounting and bookkeeping type skills as the product is an accounting product. If you are using other modules like inventory and order entry it would be good for someone supporting the product to have supply chain skills
- Integrated to our CRM system
- Offers Revenue Recognition capabilities for subscription payments
- Canadian Payroll Integration
- Using optional fields to track marketing info about our customers and create marketing lists
- Anywhere any time access to dashboards so Executive staff have access to data at any time
- Process payments from customers in system via bank transfer or credit card
- HTML screens will allow anytime anywhere access
- Integrated to Project Management products would be beneficial
- Reporting on Sage 300, Sage CRM and other product data would be fantastic
Evaluating Sage 300 ERP and Competitors
Yes - We replaced in house developed applications that were difficult to maintain and upgrade. Eventually we lost the staff who could support the in house developed product and decided it was best to move to an application that was more popular with a larger install base. We now are able to find resources that use the product and have skills that can help us.

- Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor
We had a great deal of experience with the product in the past which was a huge influence but the product also had features we wanted in terms of intergration to other products like Fixed Assets, CRM, Time and Billing and BI tools. Sage of course has offices in Richmond and there is a very large install base in Vancouver and many resellers so we knew we would never have issues with getting access to resources.
We would have fully analyzed all our needs vs just our accounting needs. In the end we make mistakes with some of the add on products we chose because we did not analyze our needs in advance and evaluate the products against those needs. We chose products based on bells and whistles we really liked but the products were missing fundamental components we really needed.
Sage 300 ERP Support

Quick Resolution Good followup Problems get solved Kept well informed Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
No - We don't really need premium support. We are able to support ourselves for the most part and when we have a major problem we are usually able to find answers in Sage City forums or Sage knowledge base. If we have major issues which is rare we seek the assistance of a Sage reseller or the publisher and are able to get help quickly and affordably.
Yes - Yes and Yes.
They have fixed bugs that were effecting how we could use the products in a matter of days.
