Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor (SAM) is used daily in our organization. Our admins monitor it, and we also have application owners that have their own page to use it as well. It addresses any issue with the application, and proves it is not system resources. It is a great way to see what is going on within an application.

Pros

  • SAM shows any critical issues within an application.
  • SAM shows any warnings within an application.
  • SAM monitors services and can notify you if any services/processes are using too many resources.

Cons

  • SAM could be a little more reliable. We see consistency issues.
  • It is nice to show upper management the data the SAM collects.
  • We use SAM to go back in history and identify when an application was having issues.
  • SAM has easy to read graphs.
We liked Solarwinds SAM because we were already using SolarWinds [products].
We have an application that has issues running. Services often stop, so we see issues with performance/ reliability. SAM allows us to know when that application is having issues and we can address the problem before it becomes too big of a deal. It is very nice to work with and easy to use.
