Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
I use SAM to monitor servers for 10 offices nationwide. It has allowed me to have the best monitoring platform around, in addition to the ability to automate numerous tasks I would find myself doing in past roles. For instance we use it to automate the power down cycle of servers when a Battery Backup sends a 25% remaining power alert to ensure protection of our data in the event of a power outage.
- Monitoring individual services.
- AppInsight for applications.
- Automation of tasks.
- Better integration with mapping the network. We are not a fan of Network Topology Mapper.
- Better insights for SQL without buying another add-on.
- Seems the focus is on adding new applications to sell instead of improving the current lineup.
- Great ROI to stop outsourcing monitoring.
- Negative impact from a time perspective due to so many sales calls and emails.
- Positive impact in my confidence of being able to sleep.
