Overall Satisfaction with Sublime Text

As far as I can tell, Sublime Text is mainly used by the R&D department, and it's not a company policy - The R&D employees use it only if they wish to.
The main problem it helps to solve is analyzing large amount of texts like logs (searching inside, finding similarities or irregularities) or updating big text files (very useful and flexible "find & replace" capabilities).

  • The software is super lightweight and is not being "felt" at all in terms of performance
  • When saving files (at least on mac), the files' extensions are missing unless you specifically type them

  • Notepad++
The main reason I moved from using Notepad++ to use Sublime Text was that I moved from Windows OS to Mac OS....
Notepad++ is not supported on Windows based systems, so I had no choice.
But my guess is that over the years, I would have probably moved to Sublime Text anyway, since it became a "hot trend" among co-workers, at least in the computer software industry.

Yes

Sublime [Text] is well suited:
  • when you need to take notes fast and with no text formatting
  • when you need to write some scripts or pseudo-code with no need of a "heavy compiler"
  • when you need to research a large amount of text (search for repetitions or irregularities)
  • when you need to update a big text file (find & replace, or just use a software that doesn't "hang")
