Overall Satisfaction with Talend Open Studio

We are using Talend for the second time in our company for an ETL project. This software has been used once before in a previous project with Big Data and Mapr. It is said to be powerful but is full of strange bugs and the company is encountering problems with the maven repository. Sometimes it freezes a lot even on a powerful PC (I7 laptop).
  • Infographics
  • UI
  • Simplicity
  • There is a lot of problem with setting up Talend for the first time and downloading the libraries
  • Bad support from Talend. Sometimes the technical support is not able to respond, and after several emails, they stop answering
  • Bad understanding or explanation of errors. Sometimes the error pops up and you don't know why
  • We are losing days of our project having to setup it.
  • Not compatible with Big Data or inconsistent support.
Many times, Talend freezes. When you give a cancel command, it takes several minutes to stop. It also takes a great toll on our PC with 16 GB of ram and I7 CPU, even in idle status. If you are downloading Maven Jar/Libraries, you cannot do anything and have to wait until the task is finished.
Talend Open Studio is based on Eclipse and is full of redundant procedures to do one thing, like when installing libraries. Sometimes I cannot manually download the libraries that it can't find.
Talend is created for ETL, data integration and Big Data, but running for four rendundant modules. One program that joins all of these in one module would be awesome. It can be great for infographics, but since it is based on Java, it is full of errors. I don't think it is well suited for data mining scenarios.

Talend Open Studio Support

There is only one support staff on a forum created by Talend, which hides behind a nickname and does not show his name. They only ask base questions like:
-Talend version
- Are you in a proxy?
-Do you have all the libraries installed?
-It is a Jar missing? (how could I know?)
-Follow this link on our site or "please ask your administrators"
They then wash their hands of my issues.
ProsCons
Kept well informed
Immediate help available
Support understands my problem
Slow Resolution
Poor followup
Problems left unsolved
Escalation required
Support doesn't seem to care
Slow Initial Response
No - I'm dissatisfied by support. I would never pay for something that has a lot of bugs and is making me lose a lot of project days. Bugs and errors that appeared six versions ago reappear now in the latest versions! What are they doing? I'm able to interrogate my DB's but not with Talend. Talend+Eclipse+Java = bad choice
Yes - I've reported several bugs, with a lot of information about my setup, connection, version, and procedures! Always got the response after 6 hours or 2 days after. But no, it never resolved to my satisfaction. It was always a partial fix of the problem and apologies after apologies. I'm still not able to query a Hive Connection!
