Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We use Veeam Backup & Replication to backup our entire Hyper-V infrastructure. It has saved us on many occasions and has been a robust and cost effective solution. We have tried other solutions and none has match up to the flexibility that Veeam offers. Veeam support has been effective on the few times we have needed to use it.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • License portability as your environment needs change
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Quick restore
  • Automated testing
  • License portability
  • Licensing complexity
  • Costs
  • Virtual workloads

It is used for about 70 virtual servers across several sites. These are stored in a repository and also a cloud repository. This has increased over the last 6 years using Veeam and it has handled it well. The increase in licensing was reasonable but could be easier to scale it.
  • Quick recovery from disasters
  • Low cost of ownership
  • Possible change of licensing may make it complicated
We rebuilt the main production environment and needed a robust backup solution to replace the existing poor systems in place. The previous Microsoft backup was poor and unreliable. Veeam in comparison is robust, quick and reliable compared to the previous solution.
We use the backup to cloud repository and this has worked well. This has enabled us to build a robust backup solution thats fits our DR needs. Without this we would have to revert to external tape backup which would not have been suitable sure to our workloads or locations.
We have not benefited from this feature but plan to use it in the future
Veeam is we’ll suited to on site virtual environments. The cloud solutions are robust and are advancing regularly. We have used this for quick restores when needed, and full virtual servers of over 5 TB of data and it handled it well. Using Veeam over a WAN could do with improvement.
