Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

Veeam Data Platform is our primary backup and recovery software solution.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Enterprise UNIX servers running Solaris & IBM AIX
  • Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • NAS filers
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Installs easily
  • Data replication between sites
  • Integration with Microsoft products
  • Creating a single file for a backup job or server
  • No central scheduling in B&R
  • No central account management in B&R

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

No

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

No

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

No

we have over 2000 protected virtual systems
  • Forced us to run on old platform because backup jobs files are over 4TB in size.
  • Honestly I wish we had not bought the product at this point
  • I want Commvault back.
We wanted Veeam Data Platform because everyone raved about it. It was supposed to be great at replication, which it is, and simple to implement. Commvualt support isn't great, but I can get on the phone or a webex with someone in an hour of less if needed. In my experience, Veeam Data Platform support is horrible.
I think it is great for environments that are 100% virtualized with minimal large systems.
