Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

Veeam Data Platform provides an easy-to-use and very streamlined approach to performing server and workstation backups. I have found the product to be a lifesaver when it comes to protecting critical servers and their data. Veeam Data Platform not only provides highly detailed and easy-to-follow instructions and guides, but their support infrastructure is fantastic. I think Veeam Data Platform is offered at a reasonable price considering the comprehensive amount of tools provided in the software. I highly recommend checking out the Veeam Data Platform software for any business - large or small.
  • Perform VM Host (Hyper-V or VMWare) Backups
  • Restore Entire Hosts or Specific Snapshots
  • Provide Robust Logging
  • Accurately and Quickly Report Critical Errors
  • Accessibility and Readability of Job Logs/Reports
  • Compatibility with non Virtual/Physical Machines
  • Providing detailed descriptions of errors as well as linking to relevant help articles
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • License portability as your environment needs change
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
My Veeam Data Platform environment currently handles 22 Virtual Hosts (17 Windows Server, 5 Linux), and 3 Physical Windows Servers We have 2 NAS appliances as well as a magnetic tape drive set as backup targets via SMB. We initially intended for only the 17 virtual hosts to be added to Veeam Data Platform backup jobs, but quickly realized that Veeam Data Platform was more than capable of backing up almost our entire environment with some small fringe exceptions. Veeam Data Platform made it easy to modify our license and provide thorough guidance in setting up backup jobs for our entire environment.
  • Veeam Data Platform's ROI is not always obvious unless you have data loss, but Veeam Data Platform saves you from significant stress when you are required to perform a data restoration
  • Veeam Data Platform has been an absolutely necessary expense for us and we have relied on it to successfully recover mission critical data
  • The license cost has more than paid for itself after preventing monetary losses that easily could have approached 5 figures
An irrecoverable data loss drove us to find a more robust data backup solution.

Veeam Data Platform has not let us down since and it's integration with Veeam ONE Monitoring tools has made keeping a close watch on data backups a breeze.

Alternative backup methods and software just can't compete with the "it-just-works" nature of Veeam Data Platform.
Unfortunately, our industry is not able to utilize any cloud computing for our primary server environment. However, we have been very impressed with our testing of its integration with Microsoft Azure. We hope to be able to utilize Veeam Data Platforms cloud tools once our industry makes the shift towards cloud computing.
Veeam Data Platforms most useful tool in our environment is its seamless integration with NAS Appliances, Windows AD and Windows SMB / File Sharing. Adding a Windows File Share in Veeam Data Platform takes less than a minute and is as secure as the protocol allows for.

Veeam Data Platform easily integrated with our QNAP Backup Appliances and after the initial full backup jobs ran quickly and effectively copies data to our file share backups.

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

I think Veeam Data Platform is very well suited for a mid-large size virtual environment. Whether that be Hyper-V, VMWare, or a simple Linux Docker setup - in my experience, Veeam Data Platform does a fantastic job of performing numerous host backups simultaneously. I would not recommend Veeam Data Platform for users with a primarily physical server environment.
