WebDAM (legacy product)

Overall Satisfaction with Bynder Brand Portal

It was being used mostly by the photography team, a little bit by public relations, human resources, and a team called category management.

It is helpful in being able to store and keyword tag approved photography for use on the company's public site where customers sign up for service. It's also useful for keeping company images & graphics for internal communications. Without the DAM, none of the assets would be easily searchable.
  • Allows you to set up a complex matrix of keywords, and allows you to use that preset system to tag assets as they are uploaded.
  • If you are an admin, managing permissions groups and individual access is straightforward.
  • It's too expensive-- pricing is too piecemeal
  • Brand Connect was pretty difficult to use, and not very flexible
  • The attempt to push the connection with Shutterstock is a bit of a laugh. Most companies use many different sources of stock photography. Just because Shutterstock owns WebDAM doesn't mean users are going to love one particular stock house more than others. They have to try though!
  • It's difficult to quantify ROI for something like this.
I wasn't part of the decision making process, so I don't really know. WebDAM does seem like a significantly more mature product than Flight. Not sure about Widen, seems like they are comparable.
It's all about scale. WebDAM is designed to handle multitudes of assets while still being, technically, an out-of-the-box DAM solution. For smaller firms (which mine is), it might not be ideal. Our situation is probably borderline whether it's worth the money being paid for it.
