If you are looking for a basic CRM this tool would work. It has lots of room to grow.

FunctionFox

If you are trying to track time across teams or functions, that is really what FunctionFox is designed for. I think this would work better for individual, smaller teams with similar tasks and activities, instead of for larger companies with more complex organizational operations. If you are just getting started with time tracking, this could be a good place to start.

  • FunctionFox makes time tracking easy. The interface for recording time is simple and quick to use, with pull-down menus for clients, projects and tasks, and a choice between recording time manually or with a timer.
  • FunctionFox helps me understand my business better. A wide range of easy-to-generate reports lets me delve down to understand which clients and projects are most (or least) profitable. Tracking estimates against actual fees and hard costs helps me develop more accurate and realistic quotes.
  • FunctionFox makes me more professional. Time-tracking is just the beginning. FunctionFox makes that simple task into a really powerful tool that helps me appear - and be - more professional. It helps me develop comprehensive estimates, ensures better communications with clients during the life of a project, and helps me create accurate and complete invoices.   • FunctionFox supports its software with above-and-beyond customer service. Cons

  • Cumbersome processes - feels like tasks take longer than they should.
  • We gave up on the Projects module, it was rather unintuitive. Switched to JIRA, which integrates with the Support module of Accelo.
  • Each email address requires a new contact. If one person uses multiple email addresses to contact you, that info will have to be spread across multiple contacts.

  • FunctionFox could benefit from making some changes to the over all look and layout of the site.
  • FunctionFox should make some changes as to how many steps there are to complete certain processes, it can often times be unnecessary and can often be troublesome. A simpler process would be beneficial.
  • 451 Marketing is currently changing how we bill, it would be nice to see some easier ways to incorporate this change.

It's a good tool for tracking hours and overall budget. It does not give you insight into why there are those hours, or what part of the project has over burned. The tool is also tough to export reports and find the correct information throughout. Not only this, but I also have a hard time changing project details - there's no real easy way to and there's a larger room for error

I haven't used FunctionFox for a lot of support requests. On the times that i've been having issues I've had the issue resolved within a day, most questions I have had i've been able to source answers online or from a colleague. From what I have experienced the support team seems great.

Unsure on implementation of FunctionFox - was before my time at the company. Everyone at the company had a good understanding of the product and how to use it by the time I joined. My understanding is we implemented ourselves with a few training sessions for the creative team and adding hours as well as training for the account team to add projects

Alternatives Considered

Accelo doesn't really exceed any competitors in any one area of their product, but in 2015 when we made the move this was the best option that included all the tools we wanted. However, user adoption was low in some areas due to the UI, so we scaled back Accelo and added other tools.

Return on Investment

  • Helps with tracking prospects through the sales/marketing funnel
  • Has led some employees to stop using the tool and going back to spreadsheets. When trying to attach targets to tags you need to do so individually and if you upload a large list you need to do this manually, one by one, and requires a lot of time. So people have gone back to spreadsheets where they could simply just cut and paste new people in.

  • Better tracking of client servicing
  • Has let to less employee efficiency - they take time out of their day to do it
  • If you forget to do TimeFox, it's near impossible to create an accurate report
