SolarWinds Access Rights Manager is ideal for companies using Active Directory. It allows you to manage all employees' permissions from one location. Besides that, it is also great for cybersecurity experts to visualize all the permissions within the company, to audit them and make sure no one has too many permissions. Considering the scope of the applications, it would be most-suited for medium to large companies.

CyberArk Workforce Identity (formerly Idaptive Next-Gen Access)

Centrify is a great solution for anyone looking to start using Office 365. It is also a great solution for anyone wanting to provide their users with an SSO solution using OAUTH, Federation, or SAML for any hosted service. If you are looking to use Centrify for MDM but you aren't using a hosted/hybrid email solution such as Office 365, there are better on-premise options that should be explored.

  • Exchange access reports
  • Recertification overview for admins (which was not recertified until now).

  • Occasionally, I get logged out of Gmail, sometimes in the middle of an email. I'm not sure why it happens, but I think it has something to do with timing out. Which is strange because I'm on email all day. Not sure why.

The support staff thus far has been very helpful. At times I feel they are driving the process forward without my intervention or constant reminder, which is nice to have in a company for a change. Most support seems to be a hassle but so far Centrify appears to treat your project as their own project.

Alternatives Considered

SolarWinds Access Rights Manager (ARM)

We looked at Okta, Sailpoint, and some others but they were cost prohibitive and we needed to slap something together quickly and these required a lot of planning before implementation. Planning is a good thing and would certainly have helped but I wasn't given the option of moving the launch date. Given those constraints, this was really the only option.

Centrify offered us more for our money by being more than just an SSO platform. There were several other features included such as MDM and MFA. This started other initiatives for us and felt the other solutions we evaluated would not have been able to provide.

  • Centrify has made the job of the administrator easier by allowing us to manage SSO and MDM all in one.
  • Centrify has made it easy for the end user by using SSO and not having to remember their passwords for multiple applications, networks, etc.
  • Centrify has made it easy for an end user to enroll their own device which in return adds their device to the corporate network and sets up corporate email on their device.
