Adobe Campaign is well suited for enterprise-level marketing communications. It can manage and deploy large volumes of emails very efficiently. Workflows can allow multiple touches, staggered sends, and segmentation to occur all within one delivery if needed. Interactions and reporting can happen in real time or near real time if needed. When integrated with the rest of the Marketing Cloud, Campaign becomes even more powerful as platforms like Analytics and AEM can have functionality brought directly into Campaign for more effective content creation and reporting.

If you have a mid-sized services team, a tool like this is a must to see positive margins. A larger team might find more administrative pains but they have very large customers who have been implemented successfully. If you have an SFDC background, this is the easiest solution by far.

  • Overall, the program has great features and is very flexible and easy to manage.
  • Excellent advanced email delivery that also easily integrates well with social and mobile. Also easily allows you to create custom emails for customers.
  • There are multiple ways to achieve the same results - so if one tool doesn't work, you aren't stuck and have other options of getting the same end result.

  • Custom Report Creation can be simplified and made more visual like Tableau

  • The only part of FinancialForce that is very frustrating, is that we are unable to edit an invoice after it has been posted. The invoice is permanent and any small error can't be fixed, which means I have to create another invoice. Because of this, we have multiple "discarded" invoices in the system--forever!

We feel that Neolane really adds value to our organization and has allowed marketing to progress - storing databases more efficiently, sharing campaigns across the world, pushing leads directly into our CRM system. We are very invested in the tool since we took a good bit of time to customize it, so I anticipate we will renew our use.

There is another PSA software program that we have been looking into (DreamFactory) that could potentially replace FinancialForce PSA in our organization. Like FinancialForce PSA, it is cloud based on the force.com platform. Licensing is slightly less than FinancialForce PSA, and the Resource Management tool is far superior to FinancialForce PSA. With that said, our renewal falls in Q4 2014 and I don't foresee us implementing a new system this fiscal year.

From my standpoint, FinancialForce PSA is relatively easy to use. As a System Administrator, I am able to maneuver around the software with ease. As a user of FinancialForce PSA, I am able to input my timecards and expense reports without any issues. I have received very positive and very negative feedback about using FinancialForce PSA, however, from users in other functional roles in my organization.

Most of the time it is fine. There are peak periods of usage where performance noticably slows down (i.e., Monday mornings when time is due and many reports are being run)

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Appirio did a good job, however, the user team didn’t know enough to make all the right configuration/customization choices. The team focused too much on replicating existing processes vs. reengineering them. In hindsight we should have had deep dive reviews at key milestones and enforced more focus on how the software would operate. We didn’t have access to true best practices expertise. In hindsight, a consultant from the outside would have been helpful to drive this.

Alternatives Considered

Because it's pricey, I've played around with cheaper alternatives when I didn't have access to it through work, such as Infusionsoft, ONTRAPORT & Pardot Marketing Automation. I found that all of them lacked the consistency and tools I needed to create strong results and as constantly comparing it to Adobe Campaign. The information was slightly off also and not as accurate.

I've evaluated OpenAir and a few others and the main benefit was the easy integration and administration with SFDC.

Return on Investment

  • Neolane has allowed our worldwide teams to capitalize on each other's activities - we can store one campaign then adapt it for other areas of the world fairly easily.
  • Neolane has made us more efficient by allowing employees to speak the same "language" - prior to Neolane, we used many different systems and operated separately across marketing.
  • Neolane has slightly reduced the amount of data entry work in Siebel On Demand, since the two tools are able to "talk" to each other.
