Well-suited for companies with 10 or more employees. The more employees the more efficient ADP is for all aspects. Less appropriate for small companies where payroll and reporting is very manageable.

Pros

  • The reporting in ADP is second to none. The ease of creating ad-hoc reports is far superior to any other system I have used. As an added bonus the canned reports that come standard with ADP, are usually more than enough for any company.
  • The customer service is amazing. Anytime I am experiencing issues I can call them up and expect an immediate resolution. They have an excellent ticketing system that allows them and myself to track communications and look up prior resolutions for future reference.
  • Tax Payments and Reporting are a life saver. I can always rest assured that my deposits are accurate and made on time. If I get any tax notices in the mail I can simply forward them to ADP and I do not have to worry about them again.

  • Customer service. We're assigned a dedicated account manager, but there is also a broader team that is aware of our account and can assist with the Account Manager is not available. I've always found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful.
  • User friendly. Both our management team and employee users have found the platform to be more user friendly than our past systems. I have to answer very few questions about how to access areas of the site.
  • Many options. We started with Web Pay's base services, but were able to add advanced HR functions, performance management, and onboarding within the same platform. It's nice to have a single solution rather than multiple vendors pieced together.

Cons

  • There are often long waits for a customer service representative.
  • We had some employees that had difficulty creating a profile - but it was resolved quickly on the back end.
  • When I get a timecard exception notice, it would be nice to have details (employee name, date of exception) readily available within the notification.

  • Leave tracking. It's possible, but it's not intuitive. There are many back and forth steps that could be improved.
  • Applicant tracking. The additional module is available, but it's not comparable to other solutions out there. I tested it out during the beta phase and chose to go with an outside vendor that integrates with Paylocity instead. Not seamless, but it's worth it to get the better product.
  • Tablet friendly pages. I understand that many employees will access the self-service portal through their tablets, but when the system was made "tablet friendly" it took some of the user friendliness away as well. More clicks (or taps) are needed to access basic functions when before they were just right there in front.

Solid network - down for upgrades at late hours during the weekend when I am definitely not in the system to use it. Even if I was, they provide excellent advance notice.

The instructions from the recruiting agency on how to use the system was pretty straightforward. It provided step-by-step procedures on where you would need to log in your hours as well as what you would need to highlight (i.e. regular, overtime, etc.) detailing the type of hours that were worked overall. The handout also provided some pictures of the application

Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

Our experience with Paylocity was quite a bit more positive than Ceridian. When we were with Ceridian, we had many tax filing issues and billing issues. We have not had any billing issues with Paylocity, nor have we had any major tax tiling issues. We had one tax filing issue shortly after implementation which they corrected and we've had no tax filing issues since.

  • Difficult to get reporting we need. Often have to use reports as a starting off point and edit or merge them with other reports to get the data we need.
