Considered Both Products
Jira Software
Chose Jira Software
Haven't evaluated other products like the Jira Software, since Jira is the top competitor in this field and everyone relies on it since it gets the job done.
Jira is a very important tool in almost any kind of project, helping to track down the work of all the team members and …
Chose Jira Software
Asana is great for people who need simpler project management systems. It does not have a wide range of features but its integrations are a lot more streamlined and easy to set up. Trello is great for those who just want to manage scrum boards and swim lanes.
Chose Jira Software
Jira Software was already the established enterprise standard supporting my clients’ globally distributed software teams. I feel strongly that no other product could deliver when compared to Jira Software.
Chose Jira Software
Our groups use JIRA in numerous ways and we've viewed it as capable in practically all cases. I would effectively prescribe JIRA to an organization of the right size and intricacy. It just might be over the top excess for groups that need just light undertaking following and …
Chose Jira Software
Redmine is much more intuitive and user friendly. Jira certainly has more advanced features and a plethora of plugins for any sort of need.
Especially for programming teams, Jira is more suitable to track the project.
Chose Jira Software
JIRA Licensing. Better Support.
Chose Jira Software
The Jira software is really top-notch compared to other software programs. It has a better UI and it is more intuitive. The out-of-the-box features make it easy to implement and get started right away. The other software is either more focused on program/product/project …
Chose Jira Software
After several years of using both of those, I very much prefer Jira. Customizability is much better, as well as compatibility with other solutions. Jira is also a lot more intuitive and makes more sense when it comes to configuration and building your own boards and instances.
Chose Jira Software
We have used Microsoft Team Foundations Server in the past as a project management tool. It was well integrated with the R&D team through Visual Studio, but it was difficult to use a product management delivery tool. JIRA has natural integration with product management …
Chose Jira Software
Jira had the full package and had a lot of options as a task management tool, good for tickets and a complex user management interface to split up permissions within our company and for our clients. We can integrate with Bitbucket and work through tickets development, design …
Microsoft Teams
Chose Microsoft Teams
Prefer JIRA Software, easy to document requirements, dev notes, QA notes and share this with anyone who cares about the work. You can also easily plug this into Confluence and create dashboards if you like. JIRA has a great UI and drag and drop functionality is easy for anyone …
Chose Microsoft Teams
We use JIRA as our Project Management tool so we implemented Stride as well. It was a good tool and did the job. I haven't found anything in Teams that is noticeably better than Stride, but I am not feeling any major shortfalls having switched to Teams when Stride was …
Chose Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is just a nicer front end to SharePoint for file and document management but it also has a good communication network for internal and external parties. It's easy to use on mobile device as well. It also integrates well with Microsoft Power Platform etc, meaning …
Chose Microsoft Teams
We used Adium in the past for our direct department and HipChat company-wide. I didn't mind HipChat so much, but it didn't have nearly as many features as Teams offers. Adium was a big pain in my butt because it is used for not just the company, but everything else you are …
Chose Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is a clear winner for robustness and for integration. It has the entire Office 365 toolkit in its corner and for an enterprise level solution, it doesn't have many peers, at least at that level of comprehensiveness. There are some peers that might compete well …
Chose Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams was the best option for us because of its deep integration with other Microsoft products. It works seamlessly with the Office suite and makes collaboration and workflows with SharePoint and Flow possible in a way that other tools couldn't do or couldn't do as …
Chose Microsoft Teams
I think Teams is ahead of the game. Its tight integration with the Microsoft suite has no rival. Having Azure as the backend provides a secure environment in the cloud with content accessible anytime anywhere. Microsoft is heavily investing in the product and constantly adding …

The Jira software works well for managing scrum boards and allocating resources to a task. When your Epics and Issues are set up properly, it can give you a good idea of where your team stands and the trajectory of your project. It is not the ideal solution if you need to provide documentation and support to people outside of your product teams or organization. It would benefit from having a public documentation or repository feature.

Positive: The virtual workspace created for a work team within the same company, for the resemblance of information and communications in one place.Negative: The access for members of a non-profit organization who have external emails from the host but need the same access as an internal person since their volunteer work is part of the very core of the federation.

Pros
Atlassian
  • Running sprints and tracking progress of roadmap, epics, story, task and subtask

  • Video calls are great with Microsoft Teams. They've made big improvements over the last year and I rarely have issue with getting on. It's nice when things just work.
  • The most used functionality is, of course, the chat feature. It does what it's supposed to do and you can create chat groups from whoever you'd like. We use it a lot when there is a special project and a team from various groups get together for a short period of time to get things done.
  • An overlooked function is the ability to search anything within Microsoft Teams. Any photo, document, or chat can be searched and found pretty easily. I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from having to rewrite something or start over.

Cons
Atlassian
  • Management of the software is very difficult at times, although has improved.
  • Ability to manage resources is really non-existent, there are some plugins but they are ALL buggy (I've tested them all).
  • Better integration with Trello, would love to see this happen. Right now it's very clumsy.

  • The feature of notifications in the mobile application could be improved. Sometimes notifications of different teams are not visible and are only visible when the application is opened.
  • It uses lots of computational resources while running and thus, slows down the system sometimes.
  • It allows a few channels per team. The number of channels could be increased for better productivity.

This is because Jira Software generates a huge profit for an affordable price. Having a tool that makes team management transparent and effective is very valuable.
In addition, the renewal of Jira Software and all Atlassian tools is predictable and clear, as the prices are published on the Atlassian website and there is no pyramid of intermediaries.

Microsoft Teams is included with our Office 365 subscription and we have no intention of migrating off of Office 365 and Microsoft products. Since Microsoft Teams is included for free with our Office 365 subscription, and since we enjoy all the features, benefits, and functionality, there is no question that our team will continue to use the product

Usability
Atlassian
JIRA Software is a pretty complex tool. We have a project manager for JIRA who onboarded us, created our board, and taught us the basics. I think it would have been pretty overwhelming to learn without her. JIRA offers so much functionality that I'm not aware of -- I constantly need to Google or ask others about existing features. Also, although they are all under the Atlassian umbrella, I find it difficult to switch between JIRA Software and Confluence.

User experience has been much better than the previous Skype for Business app. It has an easy-to-use interface with persistent chats. The search feature is very fast and useful. MS Teams has mostly focused on Collaboration and team building features which are very useful for organizational communications. Since Teams is accessible from multiple platforms like Laptop, Desktop, Mobile phones, etc it has been very convenient from a Mobility perspective.

Support Rating
Atlassian
Our JIRA support is handled internally by members of our Product Support team. It is not supported by a 3rd party. Our internal support will always sent out notifications for downtime which is usually done on the weekend unless it is required to fix a bug/issue that is affecting the entire company. Downtime is typically 3-4 hours and then once the maintenance is complete, another broadcast email is sent out informing the user community that the system is now available for use.

Using Microsoft Teams has resulted in much faster business communications with both co-workers and consultants. There has been little need for support with this software as the interface is very intuitive and the product is overall very well designed. We did encounter an issue with the built-in phone service, however, this was quickly resolved by the support team.

Online Training

One of their strong points i stheir documentation. Almost all of the basic set up needed within JIRA is available online through atlassian and its easy to find and very precise. The more critical issues need to be addressed as well and hence the rating of 8 instead of a 9.

Take your time implementing Jira. Make sure you understand how you want to handle your projects and workflows. Investing more time in the implementation can pay off in a long run. It basically took us 5 days to define and implement correctly, but that meant smooth sailing later on.

Alternatives Considered

Jira Software has more integrations and has more features than many of its competitors. While some of its competitors do have better UI/UX than Jira Software, they have improved this greatly over time. Atlassian also acquired Trello years ago, so that adds better user interfaces to the system. They do also offer a pretty in-depth library of how to customize the platform that others don't.

Our company and IT department previously used Skype for our communication needs. Skype was not dependable in my opinion, because it seems each time I used it during a call and/or a meeting, I and several other team members would get disconnected more than once. This caused a great interruption of our meeting, caused team members to have to ask others to repeat themselves and caused a general lack of interest in employee attendance during meetings.

Honestly, this tool is worth every penny. Yes, it's not free and you pay for the quality of services and the license. But the ROI and the benefits are all there. Also, the renewal, negotiation, and contract terms are all very well explained by our Microsoft account manager, and she's a charm.

I used Skype for Business to take calls, hold conferences, and provide remote assistance to users. Microsoft Teams, on the other hand, is superior to Skype for Business in my opinion. My job entails a lot of screen sharing.

  • I think it has allowed us to leverage our Office365 more effectivly since all of the apps are synced together.
  • It has really allowed us transition away from more formal webex meetings and have a more free flow conversation.
  • It also gives us a more direct line to our manager if we need there input they can easily join our team chat.
