  • Recovered individual files with ease.
  • Instantly recovered development machines when ill-advised changes have been made.
  • Incremental Forever technology has allowed us to backup all of our devices daily without scheduling fulls. Our ability to recover various versions of files and folders reliably has been a big help.

  • Price per TB of backup and ease of use lent to a positive impact on our network.
  • Instant recovery is a big plus, although a little clunky.
  • Negative impact was resulting from needing to manage multiple appliances or multiple storage providers to scale to larger footprint.

  • Recovering files for users couldn't be easier. We like the verification and progress of the restore as well.
  • Our ROI has been measured by the the amount of time we DON'T spend babysitting the appliance. Everything just works.
  • We have recovered a few dead servers and the recovery process has been fairly easy. Because the data is stored on disk, the speed at which the recovery takes place is very quick. We have the ability to recover from the cloud but have not done so as of yet.

  • We run hourly incrementals after the initial Master is run. With our changes to XML files, we can restore within an hour and recover any data lost.
  • The RXDA unit allows for hot swappable drives. This allows us to use 'off site' capabilities.

  • Fortunately we haven't had to rely on Unitrends for data recovery too much at the moment; we have only had it for just under a year. When we have run file/folder restores it has been quick and easy, meaning the user can continue with their work without having to start again!

  • Unitrends has allowed us to set backups and not worry. We get a report every morning letting us know what backed up and what didn't and why.
  • The combination of on-prem and cloud allows us to have redundacy and DR.
  • It would be great to have 10GB NICs as that is where we are taking the rest of our servers and switches.

  • The Recovery appliance was critical in recovery of a recent ransomware attack, thousands of files were affected. The system was able to recover and restore the damaged files and limit the lose to a few new files that had not yet been backed up. This saved literally hundreds of staff hours.
  • Using the appliance we were able to easily recover emails from the archive for a former employee that were needed for a litigation.

  • There are no negative impacts on our organization using the Unitrends device.
  • I have used the unitrends device to recover individual files lost by users, servers because of disc failures, servers because of malware or ransomeware, and desktops that I just thought it would be cool to show people how the baremetal product works.

  • Almost immediately after implementing our Unitrends backup appliance we were hit with a ransomware attack. Recovery took less than a day as we were simply able to delete the affected file structure and restore from backup. We lost about a half day, maybe a little more for some departments but for the most part the recovery time was very minimal. The old backup system would have taken days to get everything restored from tape. That would have really hurt. Thank God we finished our implementation when we did.
  • The time spent changing backup tapes and driving the old tapes off site was just plain annoying, over the course of a year the costs of doing that added up to over a thousand dollars between drive time and paying employees mileage. This is an easy cost to bear but just not having to do this on a regular basis seems to have increased the morale of that employee as it's no longer a task he dreads, this goes a long way to improved employee satisfaction and retention which is invaluable.
  • The device just works. We no longer spend hours every week messing with the backups, fixing what went wrong, what Windows update stepped on what part of the backup software on the server or the client. Instead we spend a couple minutes of the day looking at the backup report and unless there's a problem, which there rarely is, we go on with the day.

  • Since moving to Unitrends, our backups have been more reliable than they ever were with Backup Exec.
  • Unitrends has given us the ability to do hourly backups of our file servers. Users that request file restores have really appreciated the granularity of recovery that I'm able to provide them.
  • Unitrends allowed us to consolidate our backup solutions (previously we were using one application for physical and one for virtual backups), which makes the management of backups and restores much more streamlined.

  • It is a good solution that acts like an offline system, but gives us the online benefits.
  • The negative side of Unitrends is the high upfront cost to backup a large amount of data.
