Overall Satisfaction with Acquia Platform

It was the hosting platform for our main website. It was used only by the internet team, and allowed us to scale our site and develop a continuous integration strategy around Drupal.

Pros

  • Drupal expertise
  • Products that have ease of use
  • Solid systems built on AWS

Cons

  • It was difficult getting Varnish caches to clear because we used a CDN.
  • Their highest tiers can be quite expensive.
  • They leverage a Drupal multi-site, but a distro-based solution such as the one offered by Pantheon is more enterprise ready.
  • Increased speed
  • Better security
  • Faster time to market
Acquia is more fully featured and mature.
If their business requires more than just Drupal, for example WordPress, Magento etc.
