Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Captivate Prime

When looking for solutions to online learning, Adobe Captivate Prime looked like a perfect solution. It was to be used by subject area to meet some specific needs that other learning management systems do not have (e.g., scaffolded learning). I have used Adobe/Macromedia products for 20+ years and trust their programs.
  • The program is very flexible
  • More control of how user interacts with content
  • Assessment and feedback are immediate
  • Content was being developed on a MacOS environment and the program had some serious bugs that made it very time consuming to complete work. Ultimately we moved to a different solution.
  • Spent a great deal of time building content that ultimately wasn’t used to its potential
  • If you have used Adobe products, the learning curve isn’t that great
  • It is a costly solution
We did search for solutions to this situation with no success.
The program itself is one of the best out there to deliver rich content in a pedagogically sound way through distance learning situations. Unfortunately having to install and reinstall frequently to correct a bug in the program on MacOS led to abandonment. If it were possible to use on a Windows platform for development, it would have been a great solution.
