Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense
AlphaSense is the best service for efficiently accessing content across a multitude of sources, from expert network interviews to earnings calls and conference presentations. Their mobile app is great and their search functionality is best-in-class. Compared to other options I have used (Bloomberg, Tegus/BAMSec, etc.), I find AlphaSense to be the best at helping me find the information I'm seeking as efficiently as possible.
Pros
- Search function
- Mobile app
- Expert transcripts
Cons
- Historical chart exporting - Sentieo's should be integrated
- A la carte pricing for expert calls, instead of bundling
- There is a weird login process that opens two tabs
- Big productivity enhancer, I can't imagine doing investment research without it
- Expert network capability brings new insights, both quantitatively and qualitatively
AlphaSense has the best search functionality for text-based content. It does not really compare or compete with data terminals like FactSet or Bloomberg. Traditionally, Tegus has had the best expert network database, but AlphaSense's new Stream initiative seems to be gaining ground. I think Sentieo has had the best historical chart exporting, into a format that analysts would build themselves, and I hope that AlphaSense will integrate that functionality ASAP now that they've acquired Sentieo.
