Just another quick review from an MSP perspective
Overall Satisfaction with Auvik
We are an MSP, so we use Auvik across our customers. Auvik helps us with network mapping and fault finding.
Pros
- Network mapping, allows us to see what connects to what, down to the switch port an end device is plugged into.
- Tunneling, Remote CLI, Remote Web Gui. Don't need to login into the environment to access a device
- Statistics on Device up/down time and record.
Cons
- Newly discovered devices have to automatically be managed. (not good when we have a contract to monitor only switching)
- Deleting discovered devices after X days offline would be better if these could be achieved.
- learning curve. Very hard for new users to find their way around without completing several hours of training.
- Device down alerts.
- Remote connectivity to manage the device.
- Network diagram
- Less onsite visits needed for network issues
- quick diagnoses of issues (is it one device or a whole site)
- Quicker access to the devices management, no need to vpn into a site
Auvik is like PRTG, but with a lot more features and data.
