Overall Satisfaction with Azure Active Directory
Utilized for very basic management of users, workstations and security access groups within our domain which covers the whole organization. It helps being a single point of administration. Luckily we are 100% Windows devices.
- Adding/copying users.
- Group management.
- Updating profiles can be cumbersome occasionally.
- With our environment, sync issues occur sometimes.
- Best ROI stat I can provide for Azure AD (without hard $) is TIME SAVINGS from less authentication issues (compared to Windows AD formerly). Hours saved every week from NOT having to assist end users with passwords and login issues.
- TIME SAVINGS from not having to deal with as many compliance requirements too.
We use a combination of Azure AD, Windows AD (traditional v6) and Okta. Azure is definitely easier to navigate around to perform administrative tasks compared to the traditional Windows AD that runs on our on-prem DC. It's likely only a matter of time until Windows AD is completely extinct and all domain services type programs like it are replaced by cloud-based versions or more flexible versions. In my mind Azure is more convenient but doesn't have as many of the bells and whistles as traditional AD. Azure just needs to grow out its admin options and work on its policy administration.
