Overall Satisfaction with Bloomerang

Our organization uses Bloomerang to maintain a donor database, keep donation records, and also to pull reports about donors and reach out to targeted groups of donors. It is used within the volunteer department, the creative department as well as the development department to send out communications to volunteers and donors and keep track of efforts.
  • Reports are very easy to pull and you can easily filter them to show EXACTLY what you need.
  • Emails are very easy to create and customize.
  • It is easy to add customized notes and information about each donor.
  • When acknowledging a tribute gift, it does not automatically let you process a second letter to the notificant. It only lets you automatically process one to the donor, so you have to create a customized letter and manually filter out everyone but that notificant.
  • You have to manually create household and add the individual members in. It does not automatically create a household when you connect a husband and wife through relationships.
  • You cannot customize the way that the recognition names and envelope names are automatically populated. You have to manually edit them when you are creating a new donor or household.
Our organization used Gift Works prior to switching to Bloomerang. Bloomerang is a lot easier to use and see information about donors as a whole. It is also a lot easier to filter the reports specifically to what you are looking for. It took a while to clean up the database to how we needed it in Bloomerang to pull the reports properly since it was so general in Gift Works.
Bloomerang is great for keeping track of donors and specific interactions and donations. We have not used it to keep track of our volunteers or their hours, so not sure how well it would work for that type of situation. Although it is supposed to have some features for tracking volunteer hours.
