Overall Satisfaction with Bluebeam Revu

We downloaded the trial version. I received training from an outside source. I used the software for coordination of the specifications and construction documents between my employer and an engineering firm.
  • The tools available are truly amazing. You can basically do everything that you could do by hand and more.
  • Ease of use. Nothing in the software seemed too complex to use. Of course it takes time but once you know how to use the software you will feel at ease pretty quickly.
  • Control and keeping track of items. You are like big brother watching over everybody on the project. The review corrections are sent to the appropriate people and when the corrections are picked up you know it. Truly amazing!
  • I have only used it on two small projects and have not had the opportunity to envision how it could be improved.
  • As mentioned the majority of the managers who could benefit from Bluebeam Revue do not even use a CAD or BIM software. They prefer to review the plots and mark them up by hand or discuss things with individual team members.
It is a great software and would be excellent if every project could be billed by the hour. Unfortunately all projects are the lowest bid and there just is never any time to review the documents on a regular basis. We tend to progress thru word of the mouth on a daily basis and review the documents before they go out for bidding. Manually redlining the plots cost virtually nothing and that is the comfort zone of most managers nowadays.
The software can be used for any sized projects. We are bidding on projects against smaller firms with half the overhead cost. Which means the fee was already very low for us. We do not always have the luxury of spending a whole lot of time reviewing the documents. The majority of the project managers do not even use any CAD or BIM software and they are the ones who would most likely benefit from Bluebeam Revu. Unfortunately they prefer to discuss things one on one with their team members instead of using Bluebeam Revu.
